what exactly is a "red band" trailer? wiki claims it's an "adult's only" version -- what we in the US would call an "R-rated" one -- but the many posted here show absolutely nothing objectionable, afaict. in fact, youtube has an "age restriction" option for exactly such content, yet it's not found applied to the specific vids here, so by definition, they aren't "adults only" at all.

Red-band trailers are basically*R-rated movie trailers. They're designed for mature audiences, and they contain more sex, violence, swear words, and emotionally charged scenes than the "green band" versions that are approved for all audiences.
Usually these kind of trailers used to get shown at late evening screenings or before a Horror movie.

It's a label that the MPAA board came up with.
For them, even if a trailer contains just F words or has a single frame of nudity, It becomes for "appropriate audiences" only.
It's more of a "marketing" thing, a label, than anything else.

If you check, Horror movies like Friday The 13th, SAW or that contain over-the-top violence and gore get the red band label (even the Matrix movies got the restricted warning, back in the day), while movies like Fifty Shades get away without any warning.

It's all BS, just like those Parental Advisory labels on music albums.
