What Pisses You Off?

It pisses me of when someone speaks their mind and trolls attack them. (You see it all the times happening to famous celebrities, hell even regular people). The people get battered down and than apologize for what they said even when it was just their opinion. That's bullshit. A person is entitled to their opinion and shouldn't be attacked for speaking their mind.

I wholeheartedly believe in the freedom of expression. One can have an opinion but conversely be challenged. Freedom of expression doesn't mean freedom from the consequences of one's words either.

If I drove over to someone's house and yelled at the top of my lungs that their mother sucks donkey dick- it's my opinion, but with that also comes the very evident probability that I'm going to get my ass kicked by that person.

These assholes on these guided tours that actually think they are "climbing Mt Everest"!!!

The course is all laid out and the climbing ropes are already there as is everything to navigate the crevasses

They herd them up there like cattle and sell them a dream. At least the locals make a killing off tourism.

Newsflash, mountain climbing dictates that you have to set your own course...

My township just banned single use plastic bags. That's all well and good and not a problem for me.

What pisses me off is the fact that before the ban, the local grocery store would give you paper bags instead plastic for free. Now that the ban is in place, they want to charge 10 cents per bag for the same paper bags that you got for free before. WTF ????

Guess they have some sort of debt to pay....who knows?
Here in Italy, we pay the same. Although they still give out plastic bags, instead of the paper ones.

This is Ed the Duck from Calgary in 1990 where he made headlines around the world and was a celebrity here.

Here is his story and the lengths they went through to free Ed



Remembering Ed the Duck

The mallard, who once resided in Calgary's Prince's Island Park, made international headlines in 1990 because he was just so darn hard to catch and free from "his plastic prison."

That's how former CBC reporter, Collene Ferguson, described the predicament the little duck was in. He'd managed to get a plastic six-pack ring wound so tightly around his beak that he was having trouble feeding.

"People were just really interested and it just picked up a lot of steam and everybody wanted to save him," Ferguson told the Calgary Eyeopener on Monday.

"CNN actually picked it up and had a daily "Ed Watch" and so they were using some of our news footage."

Fish and wildlife officers made several attempts to capture Ed, but failed.

So they brought in the big guns — literally. A gun-like device that would shoot a weighted net over the duck.

Man jumps off bridge to save Ed, breaks leg

The inventor of this nifty net launcher, Jeff Marley, did manage to trap Ed as he was swimming under a pedestrian bridge on the Bow River.

Concerned about Ed being dragged underwater by the net, Marley jumped off the bridge and carried Ed out of the water, limping.

"He broke a leg or ankle because it was very shallow water, unfortunately," Ferguson said.*

Marley recruited her to cut the six-pack ring off Ed's neck, then they released the duck back into the river.

We have an Aldi in our town and they don't give out bags at all. You can buy a reusable bag for a buck or whatever they charge or bring your own. Most people bring their own bags. I think most stores will gradually change to this model because of environmental concerns.

That's all fine and well. I'm totally in on that and I bring my own bags if I'm doing the usual food shopping.

What bugs me is why is the same store that provided paper bags free of charge any time until today, now charging for the same stupid bags today ???

It's total stupid on their part especially when they're really the only decently priced store we have in the area and apparently their profit margins were fine before today. I call BS.

Maybe because now the only bags they can provide are paper and thus they will have to stock many more and the overhead just went up?
