I understand and sympathize with HIP's plight but being retired and on a very limited income, I can't afford to pay for any paysite so I just have to suffer this loss. I've even had to cut back on my server speed to save money. Even the cell phone is going to get cut back to limited minutes soon.

Well, I am an enormous fan of their 'world', but understandably they also feel this funny need to eat and drink and pay bills. On the other hand, having themselves banned will loose them a lot of fans, and this medium also exists because of it's 'freeware' (notice the brackets please, all), otherwise 99% of its fans would never have known.

Can a deal be struck that you, Boerny, are allowed to post their stories after a period of time (3 months, for example) ? In this way the real fans pay for the latest news, and those too poor have to wait. But publicity wise their comixx will stay most known of all ...

Idea ?

Excuse me if this a RTFM, but is Uroboros banned too ? I am searing myself silly for 'Inner Universe' 56 -> 61, to no avail.

Also 'Betty Noir 08 - Annika's Story', Part 9 would be very, very wonderful.

all comics from Hip and Mcc are banned now....I dunno if they ever allowed me again to post their stuff...But I also understand the artists, they had to pay for the side to run the server and they also want a view bucks for their hard work. I had think about to add. a donate button to my new blogside for maybe 3 month...and maybe I can get by that way a few bucks for the artists from Hip and Mcc.....every cent will help...and it's maybe a good Idea to give a little bit back for what they had given us in the past. They where very generous until now...but if they must fight for the survive for their side I complete understand the last message. We get so much from them until now, and they never complain befor....so I think it's up to me to do now something for them....I dunno if that will work...but I will give it a try...and then we will see....

In my opinion, this is the main problem of the internet downloads. 2 million of donwloads do not mean that they would be 2 million of purchases, I do not think that all of those 2 million users were going to buy the file they have downloaded, but free sharefaling allows people who were going to buy it for sure, to use the product for free, without paying.

I would consider myself like one of those million of downloaders that download files because they are just available, not for the product itself.

I don't think it helped that more people seemed to be actively asking for hip and mcc stuff, rather than just d'loading it when Boerny posted it. I'm pretty sure there have been a lot more requests for their comics over the last few months than before; that may have been what tipped the artists over the edge.

Such a shame, whatever the reasons.

This is largely a reply to Akonkid, but I thought I would do it publically;

I speak as a charter subscriber to Hipcomix, who has been thinking about cancelling my subscription. The reason has nothing to do with what is posted here on planet Suzy, but the actions of HIpcomix. The number of scheduled updates there has declined dramatically, and even with a reduced schedule you can't seem to meet your own deadlines. Plus many of your main artists have disappeared. Frankly, your subscription is becoming too expensive for what you offer.

Maybe it is time to think about cutting your subscription rates. That is what most businesses do when sales fall off.
