John Mann*was the lead singer of Spirit of the West, a Canadian alternative rock band that had its biggest success in the 1990s with hits including “Political” and “And if Venice Is Sinking.” In addition to fronting the Celtic-influenced Spirit of the West, Mann was the band’s lead guitarist and co-songwriter, and he had a solo career with three albums released in the 2000s and 2010s. Also an actor, Mann appeared in movies including “Underworld: Evolution” and “The Chronicles of Riddick” and had guest spots on TV shows including “Battlestar Galactica,” “Stargate SG-1,” and “Smallville.”

K-pop star Goo Hara has died at age 28

Police are investigating the cause of her death, and have not yet filed an official report about her passing.

South Korean K-pop star Goo Hara was*found dead*in her home in Seoul on Sunday, saddening fans of the 28-year-old musician and actress around the world.

Police*say*the cause of death is under investigation, and have not yet filed an official report about her passing.

Goo was hospitalized in May after what has been reported as an alleged suicide attempt. Last year, she was involved in a*high-profile legal battle*with an ex-boyfriend who she claimed had threatened her with revenge porn. The case was covered closely by the tabloid press and resulted in*harsh public criticismdirected at Goo online.

Goo was a former member of the enormously popular K-pop group Kara,*one of the first*such groups to break through to international audiences.

Her death comes a little more than a month after*the suspected death by suicide of 25-year-old K-pop star Sulli, who was*a close friend of*Goo’s.

On Saturday she*posted*a photo of herself on Instagram lying in bed with the caption “good night.”

Earlier this year, she said things in Instagram stories that caused her followers to grow concerned about her mental health. “After living all those years with suppression, I look fine on the outside, but it feels as if I am starting to break into pieces inside,”*she once said.

Goo’s death has once more raised questions about the*celebrity culture and workload*that surrounds an industry that has become one of South Korea’s largest exports. Increasingly, issues like*sexual harassment and misconductas well as the pressure industry leaders and the public places on musicians has led to questions about the structure of the K-pop industry, and has created a movement — particularly among fans — for reforms.

A press release provided by the American Film Institute and posted on Rod Roddenberry‘s Facebook page is posted below:

“Most recently employed as a senior lecturer at the American Film Institute, Ms. Fontana devotedly taught and mentored many classes of aspiring screenwriters, producers and directors by sharing a lifetime of expertise, craft, heart and integrity.

“However, Ms. Fontana gained global notoriety for her writing and story editing on the 1960’s television series Star Trek, as well as the 1970’s animated series, which she also executive produced. Her myth-building work on classic Trek blazed a trail for women, not only in television, but also in science fiction. Her well-known screen credit kept the fact of her gender a secret from most fans until they saw her picture in Stephen Whitfield‘s The Making of Star Trek, one of the ‘Bibles” of classic Trekker fandom.”

“Dorothy Fontana was responsible for creating Spock’s childhood history, including the essential story Yesteryear, which though produced for Star Trek: The Animated Series, is as powerful as the best episodes of the classic series. She established the characters of, and relationship between, Spock’s father and mother (Sarek and Amanda) in classic Trek’s Journey to Babel episode. It was Ms. Fontana’s development of the rare emotional travails of a half-human, half-Vulcan child…and adult (full of emotions, yet prohibited from expressing them), that made Spock such a unique character in the history of film and television.

Caroll Spinney

Caroll Spinney, who gave Big Bird his warmth and Oscar the Grouch his growl for nearly 50 years on "Sesame Street," died Sunday at the age of 85 at his home in Connecticut,*according to the Sesame Workshop.

The Sesame Workshop said in a statement that the legendary puppeteer lived for some time with dystonia, which causes involuntary muscle contractions.

Juice Wrld, a US rapper who shot to fame on music streaming platforms, has died at the age of 21.

Celebrity news website*TMZ said he died after suffering a seizure at Chicago's Midway airporton Sunday morning.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office said the cause was unknown.

Juice Wrld, real name Jarad Anthony Higgins, was best-known for his viral 2018 hit Lucid Dreams. Mental health, mortality and drug use were common themes in his music.

His record label, Interscope Geffen A&M Records, said Juice Wrld was an "exceptional human being" who "made a profound impact on the world in such a short period of time".

Chicago police told the BBC a 21-year-old man suffered a medical emergency at around 02:00 local time (08:00 GMT) and was taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

René Auberjonois, best known for his roles in "Boston Legal," "Benson" and "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine," died at his home in Los Angeles of metastatic lung cancer. He was 79.

Auberjonois was a prolific television actor, appearing as Paul Lewiston in 71 episodes of "Boston Legal" and as Clayton Runnymede Endicott III in ABC's long-running sitcom "Benson" — a role that earned him an Emmy nomination for best supporting actor in a comedy in 1984.

He played the shape-shifter Changeling Odo in "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" and carried that role into video games, voicing Odo in "Harbinger" and "The Fallen." His appearance as Judge Mantz in ABC's "The Practice" earned him another Emmy nod for guest actor in a drama in 2001.

His guest roles were numerous on classics like "Murder, She Wrote," "The Jeffersons," "The Outer Limits," "L.A. Law," "Stargate SG-1," "Frasier" and the more recent hit "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia."

His first film role came with "M*A*S*H," in which he played Father Mulcahy in the first of several collaborations with Robert Altman.

He would go on appear in Altman's revisionist Western classic "McCabe & Mrs. Miller," "Brewster McCloud," and "Images." Other film credits included Roy Bagley in 1976's "King Kong" and Reverend Oliver in "The Patriot," as well as parts in "Batman Forever," "Eyes of Laura Mars" and "Walker."
