I have a mini PC in my bedroom which I rarely use partly because it has W10. My main PC in my living room is on W7. Although it has the horsepower to run W10, I refuse to "Upgrade it".

Maybe when MS pulls their fingers out of their ass and they stop making an OS designed for touchscreens AND they stop advertising in my W10 Start menu, I'll upgrade. I'm in no hurry with my W7 machine. I'm thinking about Linux Mint for my W10 machine; If I ever get the ambition to do it.

you hit the nail on the head for me, i DONT want windows 10 because i dont want my screen to have touchscreen icons, if i wanted an ipad, i would buy one. I never had vista or windows 8. I had XP, and my computer had a virus or crashed and i took it to get it fixed and the technician just upgraded me to windows 7, i called him that night to kinda ask why and he was like dont worry, it runs faster and is alot like XP , after a few hours of personalizing it, i loved it, switched everything to 'classic view, solid white backround, installed Microsoft security and use IE11. never looked back, i dont use chrome, tried it 1 time, saw it didnt have a favorites menu, like seriously, who designed that?

Unfortunately yes,not sure where you're from?but here in the uk,you have to have a landline in order to get fibre optic,am sure its the same with most providers here i think.

I do aswell, a cordless phone with an answering machine, its plugged into the back of my modem and the wall.

I also had a VOIP phone connected via a small box that basically a large cell phone receiver with Straight Talk, but since getting Verizon Fios triple package I got a landline with TV and Internet, it was actually cheaper to get the phone in the package than with out it. I was actually told by (the very cute girl at wal-mart) seller and the installation guy that many people say not to hook it up but still mark it as setup to get the deal.

As for Win8 and Win10 being crap...of course it is, it's an "One size fits's all operating system" and well all know "one size fits all" is bull shit! One size never fits all and the same for an OS built for PC, Laptop, cellphone, tablet..hell even your fucking watch can have it.

I will stick with Windows 7 until they pry it from my cold dead hands!

I read last night that in January of 2020 Microsoft expects 35% of windows users to still be using windows 7, which is when the support ends, then it said they were confused as to why their are so many users sticking with it, i guess windows XP by the time it ended was down by like 20% for all users, So in their eyes they are like ' well, lets end support like we need to harass people to upgrade, or extend it a year, 2 years, etc' It also said business and gamers are 'slow to migrate' to windows 10. Jeez, could it be because we dont want it?

Thats because in Microsoft if you go to system, at the very bottom it says product ID, its a series of letters and numbers, its kinda like your IP address but its more accurate, they want that number so they can lock your computer up, put adware in then force you to pay to get it removed. NEVER, EVER give them anything of your computer, Also in my state, i contacted my attorney generals office they have a specific number to call to have your number added to the 'do not call' list for scams

Then don't use them.
I've had Windows 10 on 2 desktops and a laptop, the Windows desktop's pretty much the same as on 7, you don't have to use the "Touchscreen Icons".
You can remove everything from the "Action Centre" in "Settings" if you don't like having that either.
You can also unpin the "live tiles" from the Start Menu (personally I keep a few as I like the rolling newsfeed; the weather app; and quick access to my photos).

I presume, though I haven't checked, that someone somewhere's made a "hack" to change it to look like Win 7 or Vista, or XP - just like they did for Windows 8 and 8.1

This is what mine looks like with the Start Menu open, normally it's closed, you can rename and resize the "Create" and "Explore" things, but I haven't bothered yet

I really wish I could play you guys the video I made when my friend had one of those calls, she's so random that the woman eventually hung up saying "you're mad". And she didn't even switch her PC on, just sat there making it all up on her mobile.

"I have 7 Windows - so that's "Windows? - 7"

I swear I have to try this next time I get one.
