Underwater (2020)
Underwater is a mixture of the best elements of: Poseidon's Adventure, Alien & The descent. Perfect 10/10 movie. I cant recommend watching this movie enough; even if your not into horror it's worth a watching as thriller, action or scifi fan. This may be the most tense movie I have ever watched. Underwater is a very tense movie that really keeps you on the edge of your seat from the very first minute to the last minute of the movie; there literally isn't a slow scene in the entire movie as literally in every single moment of the film the characters could die from the facilities collapsing, the unleashed monsters, or run out of oxygen. Brief story preview: The story takes place in the bottom of the Mariana Trench where a mining operation has just been established. The mining company downplayed the fact that several anomalys happened while building the mining station and pushed forward to start mining operation regardless. Unexpectedly a part of the station implodes from the extreme depth pressure. We later find out that the drilling operation opened a cavern that unleashes previously unknown monsters that had damaged the station. The acting was pretty solid considering the lack of familiar faces (at least to me). The setting was perfect and it really makes you feel like your at the bottom of the ocean. I really loved the monster designs because they are very Lovecraft inspired. |

I enjoyed Underwater enough. Not as much as other underwater horror movies, but I did find it entertaining. I'm not even sure it needed monsters, and would have worked as just an underwater disaster film. Kristin Stewart looked good in her underwear as well.

I'm going to recommend a bad movies for the most part on the basis that it's bad and one of those late 90's Science-Fiction Horror movies.
I'm talking about Phantoms (1998) which definitely hasn't aged well and the frequent cuts will leave you with whiplash. Not that it's the film's fault they spent all their money on slow-mo effects before realizing they had the rest of the movie to make. What Phantoms does do amazingly well is two things: Set a creepy tone and atmosphere which it succeeds perhaps even better than the novel and the casting of Liev Schreiber who does a phenomenal job over the cardboard and in the case of Rose McGowen miscast cast members that includes Ben Affleck, Joanna Going and even the legendary Peter O' Toole. Hey, you wanna see something? See this movie if you're looking for a mindless somewhat scary sci-fi bad movie for a popcorn Friday night flick. |

That's the movie produced by Weinstein that Rose was in after she accepted $100k from Weinstein to keep her mouth shut about him assaulting her and then she got p o at Affleck who publicly voiced he was on Weinstein's side and she called him a liar. I think she is the liar. If he was guilty of sexually assaulting her, why take his $ to said nothing. People when assaulted or raped will call the Police, not take $100k from the person they are accusing of assaulting them or raping them.

Apple movies new film: Greyhound starring Tom Hanks.
stunning. Absolutely stunning. It's only an hour and a half long and that's a shame, because it could have run the normal two hours and I would have enjoyed it even more. The only superfluous/unnecessary part of the entire movie was the first bit with Elizabeth Shue. I'm sure it was part of the book, and I suppose they had to have some human interest in it somewhere, thankfully it was only a couple of minutes and then never came up again. Basically, the movie is a one and a half hour portrayal of a 36-hour period where 41 ships have to survive a gauntlet of enemy submarines to reach safe waters. The CGI is absolutely fantastic. There's not one stupid ass Disney-fication to be found. The whole thing feels like you are right there on the deck of a World War II destroyer the whole time.

Here's a fun summer movie: Summer Rental (1985) clocking in at 87 minutes it's a short film by today's standards that keeps moving and never gets boring.
It's a simple film of character Jack Chester an overworked air traffic controller reluctantly sent on vacation by his employer to the beaches of Florida where all manner of comedy ensues that we can all relate to such as getting badly burned, walking on the hot sand, people who you were supposed to meet at the beach that don't hear you calling until you're standing on top of them ... add to this a boating competition with a friendly pirate and you'll never want to leave the beach again. This film stars John Candy, Karen Austin, Kerri Green and Rip Torn I can only recommend this beloved summer comedy classic; the acting and music never miss a beat and I hope you enjoy as much as I did. |
