Smackdown was pretty much a time killer. Piper's Pit saved it from being a total dud. The Ryback squash match could be vital. When they reach the 100th win, I will still not forget the name Benny Camer. Quote:

It is nice to remember them, but to throw a non-wrestling legend into a match for Gene going to be rescued. That is my complaint. I do not mind seeing the wrestlers try to fight, but hall of fame commentators. Put Cole in a match to shut his mouth, but let the good commentators take Cole's place.

It might have worked if Hulk Hogan made an appearance and he was psyching up Mean Gene. Nobody thought I could slam that giant dude, but I did brother. It definitely would have got a smile out of me.
would have even worked if Will Sasso was acting like Hulk Hogan, instead of what they did on Monday. |

Cole getting his mouth shut?
While I'm on Youtube, as SixG was, I really liked this segment. Going back a couple years when Christian and Chris Jericho was a tag team. One more, and it has Christian again . |

Couple of quick thoughts:
Between having the Three Stooges stuff (especially Will Sasso taking that bump), the over-reliance on retired/should-be-retired talent, and then having Mean Gene actually involved in a match (with Main Event talent) ... is WWE becoming WCW-as-it-was-dying? I'm obviously being hyperbolic, but it seems that nearly every week WWE does something that people would have crapped on WCW for doing. I only saw parts of Raw this week, but I laughed when Michael Cole made fun of the Mick Foley/Jimmy Hart segment (he said something like "yeah, that went over well" when the incident led to bored silence from the fans) and then went out and had an even DEADER reaction to his getting beaten up by the "legends". The irony* of him making fun of a stupid, heatless angle to then go out and having an as-stupid, even-more-heatless angle himself was awesome. Lastly: I liked how it was Sheamus that got the "celebrate with the legends" rub at the end of the show. It seemed to me that that was an attempt to get him some cheap face-heat at the expense of the legends - it just seemed so random to have HIM be the only current guy out there with guys from 2+ decades ago. * I honestly don't know if that's the correct version of irony or not, but it's close enough to get my point across. |

Maybe having Sheamus at odds with Johnny Ace is another tactic to get fans behind him as a result of Bryan. Even moreso that now he has to pay some large fine, the "largest." When they go to Chicago for the PPV, they need to let Bryan and Sheamus be equal. Actually let Sheamus go in the ring, because he can. I mean, at SummerSlam 2002, Rock and Brock was a match where fans were in love with Lesnar. By the end of the match, Rock got more support, because he was allowed to wrestle as hard as he could against the superior technical wrestler, Lesnar. WCW when it was dying? I don't want to think that, but it certainly seems like the new focus to get some past big names, offer the big bucks and whatnot. WCW, when it was dying, had a viagra on a pole match. This was shown on WWE's latest "Are You Serious" episode. Damn Vince Russo. |

Is the next big thing to be which company has the largest fines?
Maybe it will sort of teach professionals to behave like professionals. I did not think the fine was going to be that much, so how much will it actually hurt Sheamus' wallet? Will the fines be enough to make the athletes not want to make a stupid decision? I mean if the athletes make over $1 million, will a $250,000 fine be missed?

I don't think Sheamus could realistically pay a 500 grand fine, at least pay one and still be well off. His downside guarantee has to be at least 100,000 grand a year. Not knowing what he makes in merchandise sales and how much piece of the PPV pies he gets, but I doubt it would be anything substantial enough to pay such a fine. Take into account TV show bonuses from RAW and SD, and other technicalities, and that he's just starting to be the next big face. John Cena probably makes the most money as an active wrestler, at least 1 million as a downside, and his astronomical merch sales and crap, he could pay such a fine.
If I recall, Triple H fined Miz and R-Truth 250 grand, each. Those guys are below Sheamus in every sense of the word, but they'd have a hard time paying such a fine. I think they were just spitballing a high number. |

I found this video online. I thought since there were several Daniel Bryan fans they might be interested in it. It's definitely odd.
Looking up other videos, I found some MCW videos. MCW was an early developemental promotion for the WWE. I used to read wrestling magazines from the mid 90s to around 2003, so I was aware of MCW and aware of wrestlers they had like Christian York and Joey Mathews, Kendrick, Daniel Bryan, Cade, Jason Sensation, Rodrageous (Rodney of the Mean Street Posse), the Haas Brothers, Victoria, the Island Boys (Rosey/Umaga), etc. What I didn't know was that Kendrick, Bryan, Cade, another guy (Shooter Schultz) were a tag team called Kliq 2.0/2000 managed by Jason Sensation. Here's a video of the group: One guy that interested me was Shooter Schultz. It's amazing that a HBK graduate was thought well enought to be signed to a developmental contract disappears from wrestling. It seems he retired after all the HBK students but Cade were released from their developmental contracts. From the one match I saw of him, he looked to be the most WWE ready of HBK's students. It's a shame that managers aren't used anymore. I always liked Jason Sensation and thought with his charisma he could have made a great manager. Too bad he put the WWE on blast several years ago. He basically said that Jim Ross was partly responsible for Russ Haas's death, telling him he wasn't big enough, leading him to start taking steroids. He also claimed that Kevin Fertig (Kevin Thorn) physically attacked him on one occasion, and sexually assaulted him on another.

I think it was Jim Cornette on one his rants that said ''if you're going to fine somebody in wrestling, make it believable.'' I don't think a $500k fine for kicking a referee would even stand up in little people's court.

Thanks for the videos MIB04. I heard that song before, one time is definitely enough. |
