If we talked about Asian geographically she is Asian ,but most people think of Asian as Japanese/Chinese/Korean/Malaysian etc ,not Indians nor Pakistani-ans
Same way when people think of Africa every one thinks about black people and countries,not North African people like Egyptions/Algerian who make good percent of the population in the content

Except that in British English, where Asian tends to denote people from the Indian subcontinent, specific terms such as Chinese or Japanese are more likely to be used when referring to East Asians.
