Just got done watching Hard To Kill and there was no duds. All matches were solid to great. At the last minute they did have to remove the Knockouts Tag Team Championship match because both The Iinspiration were in contact with a person with Covid and went into quarantine to play it safe. Rich Swann, who was thought to have it, was there. This was actually a good thing because it gave all the other matches the time they needed without feeling rushed.

The biggest news from the PPV would have to be the ROH stable The Kingdom making their premiere after the Hardcore War match to show their presence. The are: Mike Bennett, Matt Taven, PCO, Vincent and Maria Kannellis. |

Some AEW thoughts, haven't seen the telecast from last night but I figure a seat in the upper bowl is just as good on that front. Possible mild Rampage spoilers as well.
Given how Punk/MJF went, with MJF winning dirty twice and getting away with it the second time. I feel like they should circle back to it at some point, Punk will probably get another go at Wardlow first. The next MJF promo is going to be insufferable though, probably should force Schivaone to do it as well to maximize the effect. The odd thing is it does scuttle all the Wardlow leaving MJF crumbs they had been laying. But shorter term I think MJF is going to look for a belt, probably the TNT title. Partly because he's mentioned it and the 'Face of the Revolution' ladder match before but also because... It looks like Adam Cole is getting whoever wins next week, or at least that's what his post-match promo very strongly suggests. From a live crowd perspective, it feels like Cole has joined Jericho and Mox as having entrances that they want to give the people there in person every week. I guess there's a better explanation for Jericho at the desk for Rampage, but that was my in the moment reaction for it. Britt's DMD is another of those loud moments, but she wasn't used this week. And I don't know if the Danhausen pop gets inflated since the show was in Chicago, but it was definitely equal or more than what Mox got during the match. Since I don't know, I'm hoping he's got that Orange Cassidy type of sneaky good wrestler behind unique character vibe going. |

So apparently Cody and Brandi Rhodes are done with AEW, at least for now. We've got pretty looking statement tweets from Cody and TK talking about it and since this is AEW it's probably not for some dumb 3-week stunt angle thing.
There's also chatter about Cody possibly going back to WWE, which some doofus at Forbes thinks when combined with talk about an Austin return match at Mania means that essentially 'Everything's coming up Milhouse' for WWE for once. Short version of my thoughts on the Austin stuff is it reeks of desperation to sell tickets for the 2 nights of Mania, which already has, in theory, 2 huge draw matches announced already involving Brock and Ronda. As for the Cody/Brandi stuff, what's odd to me is they just did that bad segment to seemingly setup a Brandi/Paige Van Zant match of some kind just 2 weeks ago. Bigger picture, my gut says Cody might return in a year or two and wants to be a dad who's around his kid all the time in the short-term. |

Just got done watching No Surrender and once again Impact have a solid PPV. People are saying with all the live wrestling from WWE and GCW that happened today it was the superior event. Once again Impact showed WWE and AEW how PPVs are suppose to be done. I've been hearing that the Elimination Chamber PPV was pure trash. I'm not going to go into detail with No Surrender, but there were quite a few surprises to set up future storylines, which Impact is great at doing. If you haven't been watching Impact this would be a great time to jump in.

As for Austin I can't see him wanting to don black trunks at his age. He's probably gonna be the Mania host, Owens challenges him, and he has a very quick match. |

Having now seen the various reporting on why Cody left, I think it's partly a disillusionment thing. Taking it from Kenny talking with Meltzer, they all had visions of what AEW would become and I think this is farthest away from what Cody wanted.
I feel like Cody wanted to have a reasonable chunk of the booking power, probably as a nod to Dusty, and it's known TK took the reins fully on that about a couple months into Dynamite. So Cody is just a guy in AEW now and I think it's pretty clear that whatever extent Cody needs AEW is much more than AEW needs Cody. So he was allowed to leave and do...something. Despite the tease he's apparently not the Miz's partner against the Mysterios for Mania, maybe he's going to that CYN thing EC3 and not Braun have setup?? |

Second post just to separate out that Revolution looks like a banger, it's got Hangman-Cole for the title and that's down to at least 4th on the hype chart.

So Khan bought his version of NXT... ROH. I'm surprised the crowd didn't try and give him shit or chant Cody just for the hell of it. They'll sing terribly and make me wanna rip my ears off but not be slightly disruptive. I miss that shit. There's no way he's gonna refill that roster with the talent they released. The AE dub jobbers are going there. I was thinking he might hand it to Cody and have him book it as an AEW feeder system. No excitement on my end, ROH was dead and nobody cared, except for Khan apparently. I don't want more wrestling FFS, there's more than enough already. I highly doubt he bought it for the tape library alone, sure it's part of it, but a lot of those shows were shot kind of crappy when ROH were in their golden years and this day and age that doesn't exactly go down well.

I forgot to mention, despite their best efforts, Punk still looked like a dumb ass falling for MJF trickery. The match was booked. You telling me if they became friends they'd still have a dog collar match lol. |
