Yes! Blade Runner is my all time favorite movie and that soundtrack is amazing. Shame that Vangelis wasn't asked to score the sequel. Hans Zimmer's soundtrack for the film is rather bland.

James Caan

James Edmund Caan was an American actor who was nominated for several awards, including four Golden Globes, an Emmy, and an Oscar. Caan was awarded a motion pictures star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1978.

After early roles in Howard Hawks's El Dorado (1966), Robert Altman's Countdown (1967) and Francis Ford Coppola's The Rain People (1969), he came to prominence for playing his signature role of Sonny Corleone in The Godfather (1972), for which he was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor and the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor. He reprised the role of Sonny Corleone in The Godfather Part II (1974) with a cameo appearance at the end.

Caan had significant roles in films such as Brian's Song (1971), Cinderella Liberty (1973), The Gambler (1974), Rollerball (1975), A Bridge Too Far (1977), and Alan J. Pakula's Comes a Horseman (1978). He had sporadically worked in film since the 1980s, with his notable performances including roles in Thief (1981), Gardens of Stone (1987), Misery (1990), Dick Tracy (1990), Bottle Rocket (1996), The Yards (2000), Dogville (2003), and Elf (2003).

Caan died in Los Angeles on July 6, 2022, at the age of 82.

Larry Storch, a comic actor best known for his role as a bumbling corporal in the 1960s sitcom “F Troop,” set at the fictional Fort Courage in the Old West, died July 8 at his home in Manhattan. He was 99.

The cause was complications from Alzheimer’s disease, said his stepdaughter, June Cross.

Monty Norman
Composer of the ‘James Bond Theme’ Song, Dies at 94



Monty Norman, composer of the instantly recognisable James Bond theme music,
has died aged 94. A statement on his website said: “It is with sadness we share
the news that Monty Norman died on 11th July 2022 after a short illness.”

Norman’s most famous work was created as part of the score for the first Bond film,
Dr No, which was released in 1962, and starred Sean Connery in the lead role.
Norman said he based the distinctive rolling phrase, which first appeared as part
of a medley during the film’s opening, on an earlier piece called Good Sign, Bad Sign,
which he created for a musical adaptation of VS Naipul’s A House for Mr Biswas.

Norman, born Monty Noserovitch in 1928, grew up the son of Jewish immigrants in
London’s East End, and became a singer for numerous popular big bands in the 1950s
and early 60s. He moved into writing songs for musicals in the late 1950s.

Paul Anthony Sorvino (/sɔːrˈviːnoʊ/, Italian: [sorˈviːno]; April 13, 1939 – July 25, 2022) was an American actor, opera singer, businessman, writer, and sculptor. He often portrayed authority figures on both sides of the law and was known for his roles as Paulie Cicero (based on Paul Vario) in the 1990 gangster film Goodfellas, and NYPD Sergeant Phil Cerreta on the TV series Law & Order. He took on supporting roles in A Touch of Class, Reds, The Rocketeer, Nixon, and Romeo + Juliet. He was the father of actors Mira Sorvino and Michael Sorvino.

After several years of ill health, Sorvino died at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida, on July 25, 2022, aged 83.

Nichelle Nichols, who portrayed communications officer Uhura on
the original “Star Trek” series, died Saturday night in Silver City, N.M.
She was 89 years old.

Nichols’ death was confirmed by Gilbert Bell, her talent manager and
business partner of 15 years.

Nichols shared one of the first interracial kisses in television history
on “Star Trek.” That moment, with her co-star William Shatner, was a
courageous move on the part of her, “Star Trek” creator Gene Roddenberry
and NBC considering the climate at the time,
but the episode “Plato’s Stepchildren,” which aired in 1968, was written
to give all involved an out: Uhura and Captain Kirk did not choose to kiss
but were instead made to do so involuntarily by aliens with the ability
to control the movements of humans. Nevertheless, it was a landmark moment.

There had been a couple of interracial kisses on American television before.
A year earlier on “Movin’ With Nancy,” Sammy Davis Jr. kissed Nancy Sinatra
on the cheek in what appeared to be a spontaneous gesture but was in fact
carefully planned. The Uhura-Kirk kiss was likely the first televised
white/African American lip-to-lip kiss.

But Uhura, whose name comes from a Swahili word meaning “freedom,” was essential
beyond the interracial kiss - she was a capable officer who could man other stations on
the Star Trek bridge when the need arose, she was one of the first African American
women to be featured in a non-menial role on television.
