this may be an unpopular opinion but i think the worst gimmick is the prototypical "ric flair"

not the actual ric flair, he's great (or even charlotte), but the basic AF suit wearing slick i'm so cool and high class ahole who brings nothing to the ring. Cody, MJF, Miz, Roode (jfc he even has a frilly robe), MVP (one of the worst performers ever), cesaro (still desperately trying to make it work), et al. it's so boring!

The Miz is actually a point I'll disagree with. I'll have to admit I didn't much follow wrestling until the women actually competed as opposed to bra and panties matches and pillowfight matches.
Stratus, Lita and Mickie James type matches were few and far between.

See, and I think that Cesaro is the bomb. He's a legitimate badass, and if WWE "creative" would just let him kick ass and quit giving him stupid gimmicks, and partnering him with Ginger Schmoe, he'd be pretty much unbeatable.

i should clarify about miz. i think his flair-cribbing sucked and it was so creatively boring that they had to get flair to "approve" it on screen so that he could keep doing it. that's not to say miz is bad altogether. i started appreciating his character more when it incorporated elements from his real experience - that his confidence comes from the road he's taken to get here, all the times he's been written off, all the reality flashes in the pan that he outlasted, and how solid he is on the mic and promoting himself in the real world. don't much care for his matches but he's earned his spot.

i know the internet loves cesaro but i will stand by my criticism. anyway i was more criticizing his use of the "suit wearing asshole" gimmick in my original post but i have more issues with him beyond that. creative certainly hasn't done him any favors but he's completely devoid of personality. up up down down being the last straw for me. i've seen so much personality out of virtually everyone who's been short changed by creative on uudd that it's made me root for a lot of people that i've written off in the past. they've given him so much to work with there and i just find him unbearably boring.

i'll say this about cesaro, he is legit tough and fit. still can't put together an interesting match to save his life though. he's worked with enough legit ring guys and i still can't see anything of value from him in or out of the ring. creative can certainly ruin careers (and have) by telling a bad story, but the wrestlers themselves can still put on a good match around it and show something worth paying attention to.
