It's probably just a matter of time before viruses become more common on the Mac. So far, most "Mac" viruses still require authentication from the user - so unless users explicitly allow the virus to be installed, we should be ok.

I was on Twitter the other 'month' and came across a little gem: "Had to take my computer in to get fixed, as it was full of malware" Read a bit more... I was actually quite surprised... it was a mac.

9+ years as company admin, not ONE virus on over 100 pcs so far. In over 26 years, not one virus on any of my own computers.

Your statement will be 100% true once a member reports here that he or she's machine has been infected. So far there have been no such reports here.

Up to now, all we have are proof of concept reports from the security industry.

it's always their false sense of security that gets them. Linux.. also have an anti virus running for that but harder to find anti malware for it. kinda runs in the background on ubuntu..... But Apple. stuck up and it sure ain't free. Running an apple means one can afford just about anything. Ahem unless one bumped into the sales on geeks. Brother got an old Aqua with OS 9 installed. Upgraded to OS X Tiger but the hard drive would never accept the firmware. Don't know why now the things in a storage unit outside of town. He did a fairly good job gluing it back together (why else would they offer a G3 for $50. It was a desktop too. ) OS 9 ran good enough but supposedly OS X was supposed to run on it. SO he has this free copy of Tiger not being used (thru a University program)
