Yes of course, but the Zep's version is the definitive one, and Ike & Tina's cover would not have sounded the way it did if they based their effort solely on Willie Dixon's recording.

Question: Did Bowie perform it first or Mott the Hoople? I know Bowie wrote it for them, but I never knew if he sang it originally? I'll have to look for Bowie's version of that song! Love this forum!!!

Hallelujah - Jeff Buckley, original Leonard Cohen
I'm a huge fan of Leonard Cohen, but I really don't like the way this song is produced on the "Various Positions" album (too much choirs, very emphatic...) Other great covers of this song : John Cale, Rufus Wainwright (you've heard this one, at least, in the OST of Shrek...). |
