To burtog: I think it's too late to end The Streak. I consider it a sign of respect from WWE towards Undertaker. It's the one accomplishment he has to his legacy that is as meaningful, or more, than world titles. 'Taker's a 7 time world champion, but his reigns aren't remembered enough. He's mostly known for his character and The Streak. That's the way it is, and for me personally, I'd add his wrestling skill over the years. Edge is remembered as someone who held every single title WWE offered, and being an 11 time world champion, and staggering 12 time or whatever tag team champion. Cena is a 12 time world champion. HHH is a 13 time world champion. HBK is Mr. Wrestlemania. All those accolades, and Undertaker's major defining accolade is the Streak. Ending it, in my opinion is too much of a risk. I'm a biased 'Taker fan, so take that for what it is. If say he was facing future prospects yearly after Orton, then ending the Streak would be more viable. It wasn't until Orton came along that The Streak became bigger than before. Once names like Batista, Edge, HBK, and HHH came in, The Streak equated to world title importance, and even went farther. It main evented Wrestlemania 24 and 26, that big. Building the future of the company is a priority, and I think Undertaker knows that, but it's just way too hot right now. Simpler, from HBK and HHH to...Wade Barrett? I don't know, and that's no knock on Barrett, just something to question. John Cena and Orton don't really need it, as they are very well established. Too established to gain much from ending the Streak, unless a well calculated heel turn is in the works. Sheamus? Ehhh, maybe. He's getting there. Barrett's getting there, a lot others, but it just seems that if Shawn and Hunter couldn't end the Streak, nobody else could. That's just my opinion. I mean respect is something big in pro wrestling. It wouldn't surprise me if guys refused to end the Streak out of respect for him, as was reported years ago from Orton. I read an interview with Matt Hardy of all people about the Streak. I'll just quote it. Quote:

anyway Undertaker was/is always Undertaker to me. When I first saw him debut at Survivor Series 1990, I thought this guy is great. He had a few lame years after that and lots of crappy matches but he was always presented as a star . The matches with Bret and then Mick Foley raised his level and the rest is history. You make a lot of sense as usual, but , like Seven Churches, I'm a biased Undertaker fan . |

UT used to be Mean Mark Callas in the Von Errich's federation. I watched that every Sat. Morning and it was a great promotion. The Von Errich's, Freebirds, One Man Gang, King Kong Bundy, even Missy Hyatt got her start there with Jack Tatum. UT was a upper mid card wrestler. I never saw him as a jobber as he was always in the thick of whatever was going on. I think he tagged with One Man Gang (or was it Bundy) there for a while too if my memory serves.
I miss those days when a wrestler came to a new federation to work in and it was a complete surprise when some big name showed up and rushed the ring to make his 1st appearance. Those days are gone now and the "surprise" of a new guy showing up in your fed from another promotion are over. |

Undertaker is actually the reason I got into wrestling in the first place. I was instant messaging someone via AIM. He asked me if I was watching SmackDown, and I lied and said "yes." Well, I changed the channel to SD, and Undertaker was the very first guy I saw. I was hooked from there. At the time, he was feuding with Randall Orton. We talked about Hell in a Cell, and the rest was history. Undertaker is my favorite wrestler of all time. I emphasize "all time." Right now, it's Daniel Bryan. Then when Christian returns, it will be back to Christian.
I was browsing around for Daniel Bryan pictures and videos. For giggles, this is what I found. |

Oh, yeah, I fully admit that I'm in the minority (like 1 in a thousand fans) when it comes to the Undertaker streak - I just think it's better business to let someone snap that streak than to let a guy retire that way. And I'll say that until the end of time, long after he retires with the undefeated streak intact.
The first time that I ever saw him, he was in a mask (so I obviously didn't know who he was) in WCCW - I remember him as "the Punisher" but there's footage of him under a different name on Youtube, as "Texas Red". He then went to CWA (Memphis) without the hood and became the Master of Pain; from there, he went to WCW as "Mean" Mark Callous, and the Apter magazines at the time spoiled that he had been that masked man in Texas. If memory serves, he teamed with Danny Spivey as a replacement for Sid Vicious, but never teamed with Vicious as a Skyscraper. So, basically, when he debuted as the Undertaker, I'd seen him losing matches and being a mid-carder (at best) for a few years. Oh, and agreed with something that Karmafan said: the old WCCW was awesome and so far ahead of it's time. It had barbed wire matches, and bloody steel cage matches years before things like ECW existed. The Von Erichs feuds with the Freebirds, and then later against Adams/Hernandez were some of my favorite early memories as being a wrestling fan. It goes without saying that I always rooted against the Von Erichs, of course! And, lastly, it's kind of funny to see how much the wrestlers heights & weights are exaggerated. Guys that are 6'10" are called 7'+, and 300 lb guys are billed at like 100 lbs heavier. I will give both Khali & Big Show credit for being so tall, though, as I'm pretty sure both are a legit 7' tall. EDIT: I just realized that I forgot to mention One Man Gang, Bruiser Brody & Abdullah as part of my rant about WCCW. Such a good fed. |

I strongly believe in the old school wrestling theroy that the older guys should give back to the business by putting the younger guys over so that they can become the superstars of tomorrow and then when they are old they will do the job for the next generation. Lawler does it all the time (get younger guy over) and most recently Booker T. did with Rhodes. I dislike guys that try to be on top forever even at their later years as a wrestler and don't put anyone over (I'm looking at you HHH).
I too think UT should use his streak to wrestle a younger guy in his prime and lose to the younger guy. I been saying that all along. I'm not saying he should lose to some small fry but end up wrestling Barrett, Shaemus, or some other guy close to his size thats on his way up in the business. Not Cena or Punk either as they already have plenty of limelight and probably stroke as well. |

All I ever saw from WCCW was the documentary WWE put out (triumph and tragedy), a very good documentary compared to some you get from WWE . It did look pretty mad but interesting. sad at the same time with everybody that died.
