The sound is missing on Sondra Sommers - Big Boob Bangeroo 6 (1996). Wasn't a problem since I could just cut and paste the audio from the version I had. Man, those bogas videos were just horrible quality. The motel room must have cost more than their camera.

Any way you can send me the audio file so I can fix it without having to find and re-download the original? That new iris model is pretty amazing at rebuilding details in faces.

So... I hope by now you know, that quality is paramount to me. I am also always looking for ways to do things better. I have some stuff that I am working on... most are reworks so far, to prove out the process to see if they are better than my previous attempt. However, I can honestly say that I have some stuff coming up that is rather mind-blowingly good. I'm stoked. I wish I had extra PCs or something to churn the work faster.

The current process that works great for any source, of any quality, that is SD resolution is this:

1. If the source is very low contrast, first use a tool to increase contrast (be sure to encode to an absurdley large bitrate. I use 25000 for all of my editing before the final encode.
2. Ensure file is not in WMV format. If it is, reencode it using FFMPEG with quality CRF 16 superfast.
3. Bring the file into Topaz and do a x4 upscale using the Iris model. The settings I use are like this: Manual settings. Revert Compression 0 to 5, Recover Details 100, Sharpen 100, Reduce Noise 0 to 3, Dehalo 2 to 5 [sometimes higher], AA/Deblur -80 to -30, Add Noise 0, Recover Original Detail 80). I export to a H264 High Auto mp4 file.
4. Resize the file to 1440p using FFMPEG.
5. Do color edits and tweaking like dehaloing from oversharpening.
6. Resize file to 720p with FFMPEG.
7. Import 720 file to Topaz then Upscale x2 with Proteus model manual settings. Click estimate button, then increase Sharpen to around 50 to 60, Increase dehalo by the same magnitude you increased sharpen, set AA/deblur to around -30 to -50, add noise 0, Recover original detail 50 to 80 [experiment]. Export to same file type as before.
8. If you got everything PERFECT it could be a keeper at 1440 with some minor tweaks. Otherwise, resize to 1080 with ffmpeg and encode to x265 (using CPU only) with quality CRF 20 medium.

Poor quality 720 and 1080 files would work well with Iris as well. Basically, Iris replaces most of the previous cleanup work before the final upscale. AND, it fixes peoples' faces (mostly). Sometimes an extra tooth may pop in there for a frame or two. But it is usually only something someone would notice if the video was paused at the right time (like during all my testing). Other times it is plain comical! Test, test, test.

You can say that again if you're running each file through Topaz TWICE. My own experiment with AI-upscaling ended when I saw how long it would take to process a 10-minute clip with my 2nd gen i5.
