I'm pretty certain Ziggler will get a title. I think tonight was just about making punk look strong.
I wasn't annoyed when Ricardo came out, we always get some form of ''comedy'' during the match these days, at least hornswoggle was not in it . When the announcers started entering and the people in the ring are useless I'm thinking WWE is fucked so many years down the line. Yeah, I take things to the extreme some times. Don't want to be all negative, Sheamus won and that is good but I will definitely find it hard to name some of the participants in this match. Nothing really memorable about it . So much for Jericho changing the world. I guess finishing second was the plan all along. Anti Climax it felt like. If I had to sum the Royal Rumble up in 2 words. |

They want Jericho to feud with someone I'm guessing. He can and still will be in the title picture soon. I do like Shaemus as the winner. He was my choice to win it and deserves to be high on the WM card. WWE only has about 10-12 guys on the roster to have the potential to main event and Sheamus is one of them.
I worry about the future of the WWE. This PPV showed how lacking they are in decent talent. UT, HHH, Kane and some of the others are at the back end of their careers too and won't be able to headline main events much longer. |

I haven't seen the Rumble yet, so I'm going to ignore all posts below Seven's until I do.

By the way, I don't think I've directly addressed you before, but that was one hell of a post. It's awesome to have more contributors who really do care about wrestling in this thread. I think the era in which people start watching wrestling has a lot to do with what they expect out of it. I was watching wrestling before I can even remember it. I remember Jim Duggan's retirement. I remember Ric Flair stripping down to his briefs and handcuffing himself to the bottom rope in protest. I remember the pre-Crow Sting. I remember before the Monday Night Wars, and I remember switching back and forth between WWF and WCW every single week so I could get both stories. I remember when Vince showed up on TNT and said he owned WCW. This is the type of thing you can't forget, and I hate to do it, but these are the standards that I will always hold wrestling to. I know that the landscape has changes considerably since then, but that is something that all wrestling fans who have been around for a shift have to deal with. Maybe the PG Era is a better product and it's just beyond me to see it. I'll admit that there has been a lot of great wrestling since the F turned into an E, and there have been a lot of cool plots too, but I feel that wrestling is nothing without mic charisma. I said this before you came around, but I people have to justify their reasons for doing things in order for me to accept them. CM Punk has always been good at that. Ziggler has done it. Cena, however, hasn't done it since 2006. Shawn Michaels, for as much as I hated him since his 'redemption', has done it. For every change, there has to be a reason. There has to be a 'why'. I don't see a lot of good reasons in the WWE right now. The wrestling could blow my mind, but ultimately, I want the wrestlers to be larger than life and they have to completely immerse themselves in their characters to do that. As much as I loved the sleaze of the Attitude Era, that's not necessarily what I require. You can be PG but still be a damn good actor. Realism and child-ratings just don't mix, though, and it doesn't make a lot of sense why they've been trying to mix the two particularly over the past four or five years. About Heyman, you're right about what he said about taking out the older guys and pushing the new. I went on a rant about that and totally forgot about it. I have a problem with that too. I always thought that every wrestling company needed the older guys for support. As much as I loved the NWO flashback with Immortal, I never approved of the way Hogan was pushed for all of those years because, both on camera and off, he's the kind of guy that demands the spotlight. I hate that. I wouldn't mind seeing a little Hogan here and there, but a little goes a long way. With guys like Sting, though, I think they can be beneficial. I never had a problem with the way he did things in TNA. He got a few matches that should've gone to the kids, but he always empowered the newcomers and I respect that. I think the older guys do have a place on the screen, though, just as long as they don't stick around as long as Flair. It's just the way of this business for guys to gain experience and stick around. A few years ago, AJ Styles was one of those young guys who wanted a shot, and now he's got quite a bit under his belt. He's staying out of the way of the younger guys but keeping in the game, and I respect that. |

Thanks CarlJ1
Im glad Sheamus won--This will be a big step at a main event at mania. if anyone has a down loadable link to this ppv please pm me or post them here So now we have a winner for the RR who will he face at mania? I see Punk staying champ till mania but i dont see DB lasting till mania so that means he will drop the strap sometime. This leaves another ? to be answered and my guess is that Sheamus will take on that guy for the Mania match. Khali was back wow. I know you guys hate him but I like seeing Giant larger than life guys in these kind of matches. I hate how he was eliminated by Beth a few years ago. Who or whom took him out?

I don't like the WWE have em chamber after rr since we now have to wait a month untill sheamus makes his discision on which championship he's going after.
But since the emc have 6 wrestlers in them it's a lot harder for the rr winner to make his choice untill that ppv is over. So if y2j had won the rr and if orton had won the emc it wouldn't have made sense for Sheamus to get a title match at wm since bryan would have had the rematch clause as the standard is when champion looses. So my my guess is there will be a triple threat with sheamus, orton and bryan. |

I type my thoughts of shows in numbered format. I have done it for months. Didn't do it for last week's TNA, did it for SD but didn't post it here, but I did it for the Rumble. The purpose is to share to another site I'm in, but I hope it fits here.
1.) Big Show was trying to put his hat on a little girl. That girl was Randall Orton's daughter! She looks so cute. I swear Daniel Bryan got the biggest heat...and pop! Yes! My goodness, watching Mark Henry wincing in pain was unsettling. Bryan won by breaking Show's grip. Luck, craftiness, don't know, don't care. I'm as happy as Bryan when he celebrated. The celebration is so annoying, people had to boo him, showing his heel run is working. Thank goodness this opened the show. With Henry's injury, way too risky to follow up any other match. Big Show was fine, but I felt he was limited, working with a broken Mark Henry and Daniel Bryan. If he worked with just Bryan, it's better. Henry, bless him, tried. The match was ok, I can't expect anything more with a limited Henry. Bryan did the most. The psychology of escaping the cage was not done too much, with Bryan only having one or two attempts before the finish. He did try stealing a pin. He escaped, kept the world title, I'm happy and content. 2.) That was an amazing video package on John Cena. They showed some footage of anti Cena guys, people who love him, people who respect him. There could've been a dual video on Cena's negativity, but it was enough and emotional. 3.) Now that's an 8 diva tag match. Much longer compared to the regular matches, divas maximizing their time. Even Kelly Kelly's splash to the 7 other women was impressive. Then, the champion, yes, the top diva, got the win. That's how it's supposed to happen. Good job. 4.) Whoa buddy, Eve showing some fire against Johnny Ace's sweet talking. Ryder appearing? That's fine, selling the injury, little laugh at the end. 5.) The official match was great, as Kane really was the dominant guy here. He looks as good as he can possibly be, still a great wrestler, still has power, still can fly off the top rope. Cena did a good job, with a great, yet funny, Five Knuckle Shuffle from the top rope. The segment, counting the match and after it, combined, was hellaciously entertaining. Hehe. The Tombstone returned! Ryder's string of bad luck continues, and either he comes back strong as ever, or he will be so away, he misses Wrestlemania. The former is likely to happen, so that's good. They aired a B.A. Star commercial after the segment. Tell that to Kane! The double countout was well done, I couldn't see it being a clean win at all. 6.) Equally amazing video on The Rock! Very nice look on the busy life of Rock, and still highlighting his interest in WWE again. Cena's video was more personal because of his unique and polarizing character. No problem though. 7.) Drew McIntyre is not in the Royal Rumble match? A second impromptu match? The diva one was fine, but this, and the fact it's against Brodus Clay, oh my. Squash, but Clay got a nice chant. His character is working, good for him. I like it as well, but I like Drew McIntyre more. I wish Drew McIntyre did the 'Dactyl. 8.) Great match between Punk and Ziggler. Pure wrestling exchanges, back and forth, impressive counters including a spinning sitout powerbomb and a Fameasser counter of the GTS. There was the ref bump and concern of Johnny Ace ruining Punk's match. Expected. I predicted Ace being fair, counting the 123, despite making himself the special enforcer. Ace can be a nice guy. Ziggler looked great, and had a lot of good cheer from fans even. Hopefully it's not the last time he challenges for a world title. 9.) Aside from some stumbling, impressive promo from Miz. He does have a history of proving people wrong, so he makes sense. Fitting that Riley started with Miz. Miz easily survived Riley, nice! R-Truth at number 3! Wow, too fitting. Truth tried his sitout gourdbuster, but very messy, and looked like an Emerald Flowsion or something. Cody's gourdbuster was better, unsurpisingly. Justin Gabriel had a short burst of explosiveness. Primo came and was more explosive. Miz eliminated R-Truth so shortly after he entered! Shock. Miz ended up sleeping outside the ring, hehe, smart. Foley, so early? He eliminated Primo, cool. Ricardo Rodriguez?! Tears of laughter at his entrance! Ricardo and Foley helped eliminate Justin Gabriel. Then Santino enters next. Ricardo got a wedgie, and an elimination. Hilarious. Sock vs. Cobra, gunfight of the ages! Epico got owned by a sock and a snake, only in WWE. Miz and Rhodes ended the jokes, well timed. Cody eliminated Santino, sweet. Cody Rhodes than eliminated Mick Foley! Streak action from Rhodes. Kofi comes in and brings back the explosivenes of the match. There was a "Kofi Sucks" sign, very unique. Jerry Lawler gets in? Better than his commentary nowadays. My God, Cody's really being like the new Legend Killer. Two legends eliminated by him! There was an Ahmed Johnson for Ezekiel Jackson! HAHA! Probably the first chant for him since he last appeared in WWE, ages and ages ago. Jinder Mahal entered, and I thought Jim Duggan would appear, but Khali?! Hunico comes in, with a better ride than Rodriguez's 10 dollar car. Booker T! Freaking announcers not showing what they are wearing down there, fooling me big time. KOFI! Buddy! Handstand to the steps to save him! Eat your heart out John Morrison! Unsurprising that Ziggler entered. Duggan came, there was a "Hoooo" before he came, so they were expecting him as well. Being the first winner of the Rumble meant something, being the first guy in the history books, but making impactful appearances. Rhodes is now on a hot streak! 3 legends now. Rhodes eliminated Booker and Khali, albeit from help with Ziggler. 4 legends! Michael Cole! Oh my goodness, announcers taking the spotlight of wrestlers, only in WWE. KHARMA! Buddy! What the fudge?! She gave birth? Man, she keeps quiet. Cole got clotheslined, and left thanks to announcer help. Implant buster to Ziggler! Hunico pressed, and then Ziggler eliminated Kharma! Wow, putting Kharma and Ziggler over in seconds. Great stuff. Sheamus now comes in. Sheamus eliminated Kofi. Road Dogg! Oh, you didn't know? Jey Uso came, no Jimmy? Uneventful to the fans, if he was earlier in entrance, people would care more. Miz is the iron man, he's lasted over 30 minutes at this time, with Cody Rhodes not far off. Impressive. Swagger enters, nice. Wade Barrett comes in, but his new theme song sucks compared to his previous one, I loved that one. Barrett tryg to compete with Rhodes? One legend out from him. David Otunga, commentary mentioned his recent pro bono court victory. Orton is next, smart that he's late in the match. Barrett got eliminated so shortly after Orton entered. At least by Orton. Jericho at 29? Oh goodness! Miz and Rhodes passing 40 minutes! Aw Scheisse! Big Show at number 30. I wanted Christian. Miz and Rhodes eliminated by Show, I'm losing excitement now. Ziggler gone by him as well. Why the hell is Show in the final 4? Thankfully Orton eliminated Show, then Jericho comes from behind and eliminated Orton! Holy crap, Sheamus is in the final 2! What an amazing close. Sheamus just got the biggest win in his career. Him and Jericho had lots of back and forth, near eliminations. So excited that a majority of the fans were standing. I worry though, because Jericho got a clear pop favor, but a good reaction nonetheless for Sheamus. Sheamus and D-Bryan? PLEASE! Make it so. The biggest buzzkill was Show coming out, but other than that and few other lesser buzzkills, awesome Rumble match. Definitely more star studded, the comedy spots came at a right time, a lot of guys pulled out amazing performances. The jobber quality was very minimal compared to last year. Much more exciting than last year. Jericho losing is fine, he didn't exactly say he will win, just promised the end of the world. Well, maybe losing was the start of that end. Great PPV, all the matches were entertaining. Drew's squash doesn't count, I set that apart from the other matches. Not that it was bad, it was ok. I say that was the weakest part of the show. |
