Coffins - Buried Death (2008) Death/doom from Japan. Very primitive, simple riffs with a massively heavy tone accompanied by unintelligible guttural vocals. It's all very much caveman-esque.

Vital Remains - Dawn of the Apocalypse (2000) Blackened death metal before their more known albums with Glen Benton of Deicide fame. Awesome, black-death guitar tone, very vicious, with some great riffs and guitar leads courtesy of Dave Suzuki (who is currently writing new material in a new project I believe. About time too, the guy is amazing). The vocalist is okay, but not as good as Joe Lewis (who was reduced to simple bass duties here) or Glen himself. Dave's backing screams are still top-notch though. And man, that cover artwork. That cover art!!!
