I loved the Punk/Hardy feud. I was always into both men, and I thought they carried it well.
I'm a big Jeff Hardy fan and always have been, mostly because I could relate so well with his character. I like him as a face, but I love him as a heel. I realize that he was high out of his mind, but the gimmick he had right before he was dismissed was fucking awesome-- one of his best variations by far. Matt, on the other hand, sucks. I'm sure he could've evolved into something worthwhile if given the chances that Jeff was, but after the Hardy Boys, Jeff carried his ass and still is. He struck me as quite the undeserving douchebag too, so I'm sure that calculated into Vince's thinking. TNA really didn't think much more of him either apparently. I mean, 'Cold Blooded'? What the hell was that? I've never heard him cut a decent promo, but that was one for the history books. |

Size has nothing to do with who is a world champ? So basically the Miz vs. Big Show for the world championship is the match. Its totally believeable that the Miz beats Big Show? Or Ray Mysterio beats HHH or the Undertaker? How about Hornswaggle vs. Kane?
Cruiserweight or X-division (TNA) guys as world champs just are not believable to me. Perhaps they can beat another guy their size to win it or defend the strap but they can't carry the company for a long period of time. |

I liked Jeff Hardy when he was nearly killing himself off of ladders, but in general, he was among my least favorite main eventers/superstars of the past 10-20 years. I, like SaintsDecay & Colin_Work, liked his feud with CM Punk; but I honestly only liked it because Punk was calling him out on him being a junky that was more deserving of boos from the fans than cheers.

Both in real life (e.g. the early UFC fights, where Royce Gracie would choke out guys that were bigger & stronger than him without breaking a sweat) and in the world of pro wrestling (where Savage could beat Hogan, or Flair could beat Dusty, or Michaels could beat Taker) it's been 'proven' that a smaller guy with the right skillset can beat a bigger guy. Big Show has to carry 500 pounds around; in an actual fight, a smaller guy would just have to avoid him long enough to tire him out, and then it'd be a pretty unfair fight ... in the advantage of the small guy. Even in the world of pro wrestling, Big Show is very limited in what he can do and how long he can fight - a guy just has to tire him out and it's an easy win. Look at Khali: the guy's huge but can barely do ANYTHING physical. I'd say that like 2/3 of the WWE roster (and I'm probably under-exaggerating there) could take Khali in an actual fight. Bigger =/= better. |

The thing about Big men is that--that is what Vince likes. He
likes larger than life characters. Look at Khali he was a monster but yet Vince kept him around. If a smaller dude wrestled that bad he would have been gone in no time. As for Giants with the belt. Has anybody held the belt longer than Andre did when he had it one time.

That's just it though...is it fair that a guy who wrestles like shit like Khali still has a job over a smaller guy who can actually work just because he's big? It's not...at all. Yeah, Vince has always had a big man fetish but history will show you, for every Andre the Giant there is dozens of great "small" workers like Punk, Flair and Guerrero. And as far as I know, Bruno Sammarntino(sp?) Held the belt for a long goddam time too.

^ Yeah, Sammartino held it for like 7 years - and not long after that, won it again and held it for 4 more years.

And I always thought that Khali was kept around because he was super-popular in India, and it's a huge foreign market. I'm sure Vince would love to get a Yao Ming-type to help influence the China market. |

As for Hardy, it would be best for all involved if there was an approved accountant to make sure the money was spent wisely and not on "abusive" drugs. There are athletes from decades ago that are now declaring bankruptcy and are suing the NFL for not watching out for the players abuses. I am just saying, the things that happen in 1 pro sport, carry over into other sports.

It's not the job of a company accountant to trace where money goes after the employee has been paid-- all TNA can do is put him on a working probation and randomly test for intoxicants. I'm sure they're smart enough to have done that already.

Like what good does it do to fine the paid athlete $20,000 if his paycheck dwarfs that fine?
