With referer and with URL query string ?site=planetsuzy.org speed was always at 200 KB/s. Now it is either 75 KB/s or 100 KB/s, at least for k2s.

IMHO files over 2G shouldn't even be allowed. Is seeing porn in 4K really that necessary?

There have been repeated suggestions for a very long time to add an UHD section for users to upload 4K and bigger files (like VR stuff), so they can be kept out of the normal HD sections, but it has never gotten any traction and so the huge files that are almost impossible to download successfully from free hosts and are in many cases too large to even stream on consumer level display equipment, remain polluting the HD sections.

Perhaps there are technical reasons that limit the creation of a new UHD section, I really wouldn't know, but if there are, then I haven't seen any explanation from the board mods about what those might be.

Edit: Can still get 100KB/s speed out of K2S (no premium, no registration, no e-mail, no tracking) using a VPN with the right referrer appendix on the link. Though FB + TEZ are the better choices as 200KB/s there.

4k is absurd! It's a waste!

I have made the same complaint in the past that large files posted with single links are essentially premium only files which aren't supposed to be allowed here.... And now with this k2s nonsense they are absolutely premium files.....

ps. the file i was downloading was an hour 1080 file which in that resolution and time, 4-5 gigs is appropriate for a good bitrate, 3mb/s or better....

bitrate is more important than resolution, everybody cares about resolution I care about bitrate...

People care about what they can see easily and comprehend. Quantity is much easier to see than quality. Quantity can be seen in under a second, which is why massive 100" TV's and giant American size Superduty trucks sell like hotcakes. If it's double the size, then it must be twice as good! Quality on the other hand requires comparison and discerning, objective reasoning. Something that is in very short supply and extremely rare in the modern world.

99% of people will look at a 3840x1920 video encoded at 500Mb/s compared against a 1920x1080 video encoded at 2,500Mb/s and instantly determine the bigger one is the obviously higher quality one without question.

Looking a lot like K2S have given up on their throttling to try and force "registration" tactic. I'm getting the full 200KB/s speed again now as free user with no registration, no privacy invasion.

Edit: Yep, confirmed. They've definitely given up on the throttling annoyance strategy. No more interim splash screen asking you to decide which of their crippled speeds you want if you don't acquiesce to their protection racket. Back to normal now. 200KB/s speeds as free user.

Not here. I can get 200 if I sign in. Same file will get 80-100 on the open d/l.

Yep. Not all the time ... maybe 1/3rd. And if you DO get it restarted, it will drop again. And again. By then, you may as well move on and do a complete restart, because the file will be all kinds of jacked up if you get it downloaded like that.

k2s does sometimes give 200 without sign in; most times not; 75-100 kb/s for me. I don't see any rhyme or reason why sometimes slow and other times normal.

Maybe k2s wants people to have a taste of the 200 speed to further entice registration?
