I have the 2 hours, 28 minutes and 51 seconds, let's just make it 149 minutes, version which has the extended entrance black screen (4 1/2 min) with music and exit black screen with music music (4 1/2 min) plus the intermission (2 1/2 min).

The running time of the 50th anniversary IMAX version per Cinemark is 165 minutes.

165 minutes - 149 minutes = 16 minutes

If the version at IMAX is not the original premiere version, why is it longer?

From the day I was born until August 1977.

We entered the USA via New York City using a diplomatic visa (Dad was the consulate general with the Italian consulate) on August 6th, 1977.

We were in New York city for a few days before taking an Eastern Airlines flight to Houston where Dad was assigned.

I still remember the taxi ride from JFK airport to our hotel in New York City Manhattan.

They split us into 2 taxis because there were 5 of us plus luggages.

I was in one taxi with Dad and my sister.

The taxi had a CB radio. It was constantly going off. The driver, a black male with big afro and long sideburns kept talking into it.

I didn't understand English or spoke one word of English.

I didn't know what he was saying or what they were telling him on the radio.

It was very late close to midnight when we landed in JFK and pitch dark.

That was a scary taxi ride.

Growing up in Italy and watching the crime drama shows on TV, Blacks were all portrayed as criminals.

The newspapers there at the time was always telling stories about how New York City is a dangerous crime ridden city and the Black folks were doing all the crimes and the killing.

At the same time we didn't know where Mamma and my brother, who was 2 years older, in the other taxi were or if they were behind us.

It was a scary taxi ride for us and also for Mamma and my brother, they felt the same way during the entire trip.
