Another time I went to Providence RI and saw porn there at the theater on Federal Hill. I think the movie was called Blue Perfume. In the middle of the movie the screen went dark and the lights came on. All of a sudden the announcer over the loudspeaker said "We are sorry but this theater has just been raided. If you come to the front desk we will return your money you paid to get in the theater". Everyone (about 30-40 people) bolted to the back of the theater to the emergency exit except me.

I stood up and went to the front of the theater for my money back and was the only person to do so. I walked out the front door alone and went to my car and drove off. When I came out the front door (alone) the area at the back end of the theater was brightly lit up from the TV stations (channel 6, 10 and 12 in Providence) that had cameras set up and they recorded all the faces of the people coming out of the theater and they showed the footage on the news that night and the next day. Man did I dodge a bullet there!!!!!!

Some decency board decided the movie that was being shown was indecent and they shut down the theater and confiscated the copy of the movie that the theater had. It was either the movie "Blue Perfume" or possibly "Through The Looking Glass". I know both those movies were deemed indecent.

At the time many porn stores and such had holy joes out in front of it protesting and taking pictures of people going into the porn places. In some cases they wrote down liscence plates as well and found out the porn buyers home address and called their families. They opened a porn store in Stoughton and it had dozens of protesters in front every day carrying posters and billboards and they tried to block you if you went into the store to buy porn. We forget that what we all enjoy now as common place at one time was taboo.

I for one am thankful that we have access to it. I still enjoy it in all of its new media forms. I will admit I do miss the eroticism of seeing porn in print though. It makes me grow fond for the days of stashing Playboy & Penthouse magazines between the mattresses.

Yes and no. While it's great one can get some pretty hot looking porn at a moment's notice they do miss out on the "occasion". Like I implied earlier, porn back in our day was special. Getting porn was an event. Possessing it was something unique. It had some cache to it because of its mystical taboo nature. It was to be coveted, stashed away from prying eyes, and only to be brought out like fine wine!

Now just about any moron with internet access can pull it up, it's sort of lost some of its allure. Don't get me wrong; the women are still beautiful and can still turn me on, but the proliferation of it takes away a little bit of the uniqueness that we had back when it was a rarity.

Think about it way back when a Hollywood celebrity would appear in Playboy and it was a media spectacle. Now? It's almost pedestrian if a celebrity isn't seen topless. The mysticism has been slightly debunked!

So there is good and bad for this generation and their participation and viewing of porn.

Oh I see damn. I understand that people back then didn't want porn around, but I didn't know it was that intense.

Hell, there are still plenty of prudes out there now that don't want you having this stuff. Some of these bastards think it's their job and moral responsibility to tell you what you can see and look at.

To a certain degree, yes, we have to be adults about things and keep things like porn out of minors' hands and lock up the makers of kiddie porn, but when it comes down to consenting adults in the privacy of your own home...
