You can use my method no matter what you use. Normally they filter via DNS and not via IP. If they do it this way, it will work.

Bigfile is blocked to me. SInce Uploadable became Bigfile I haven't been able to access any files... the free option just will not engage with the countdown. I use Firefox browser and live outside USA... any suggestions?

With it your problems will be solved. It can be a bit slow when compared with the normal surfing or browsing with a VPN or ordinary proxies, but that is not bad at all.

Only use it for surfing, but NOT for uploading and downloading your files, firstly because it is not justified or needed at all, secondly because you would overload the traffic of the Tor network, making it harder to use (for you and others).

Some of you guys that can't access certain sites will probably either need to use TOR (which is very slow) or use a VPN.

If it's okay with the mods I'd like to share my referral link to the VPN I use. It doesn't make me any money, but I get an extra month for free if anyone signs up under me, but I didn't want to post it unless it's okay/not against the rules.

There's also a service I found called UncensoredDNS which I haven't looked into but sounds perfect for you guys that live in restrictive countries.

Most modern browsers that use Chromium as it's engine, or it's popular derivative called Blink now have an onboard function where you can change your DNS to DNS over TLS or DNS over HTTPS, which means it's sending secure DNS requests over an encrypted channel. This might help some of you that are struggling to connect to certain hosts. This is what's known as

In Chrome, go to Settings, and under the search type "dns"
(w/o the quotes) and you'll find a section called security.

There's also a drop down list of good DNS providers you can use, some of the ones I mentioned above. I use Quad9 because they are secure, don't log, is located in Switzerland, and has a built in URL for their DNS over HTTPs already up and running.

However, if you're using something like JDownloader to download files, you'll have to set up DNSCrypt. It installs to Windows as a service and runs in the background. It's a bit tricky to set up, and I used an implementation of it called SimpleDNSCrypt, which has a GUI interface and is easy to setup and install. Once you've got it installed, you can choose from a list of preselected DNS servers or use Quad9's implementation, which has instructions here:

If all that fails for you, I recommend buying access to a VPN. Torrentfreak sends a questionnaire out to all the major VPN providers and asks them a lot of questions about privacy, security, pricing, etc and you can find that list for 2020 here (I couldn't find their 2021 article, but I'm pretty sure it's on their site somewhere)
