I never use backup on my computer.....and for storage files I use just a Transcend StoreJet 500GB......
It's small.....fast( 3,0)....I bought that 1 year ago and for me is excellent...

Anyone have any experience with Toshiba Canvios? I see that WallyWorld has a 1TB for $119, and customers gave it a 5-star rating (20 reviews).

WorstBuy has a 1TB Seagate for $99 I'd like to wait for, but they have no idea when it'll be available.

From what I hear, WorstBuy is knocking on "heaven's door", so they may need your support. Drive availability is not their fault, blame the tsunami in Japan.

Toshiba drives are not what they are used to be, so I would probably go for a Seagate drive.

Yeah, I was there Friday shopping around, and big signs to that effect were all over the place.

When I first started researching them, a lot of reviewers were slamming them. They generally are the least expensive retail HDs. But WM's customer reviews surprised me, so I thought I'd ask for the hell of it.

Okay, we have the HD pretty much sewn up, and a big thank you to everyone who chipped in with their thoughts and insight...looks like Seagate, with the capacity TBD.

The other item I need your views on should be much simpler. Looking for a wireless router. I live in a 1BR apartment (~600 sq ft) in a high-rise, and just want the freedom to take the laptop (ethernet connected) into the bedroom if I so desire. (C'mon, who hasn't played Microsoft Solitaire in their Jammies?) Just need something with enough range to cover my small apartment, and something with security encryption, so my neighbors don't get any ideas about bogarting my internet service.

So how about the Belkin N150 @ $29.99? Or is the Cisco Valet worth a few bucks extra? For my purposes, any reason I have to spend more? Bring it, PSers...

I run a Mac and have a Apple wireless router running in my house. I assume your setup would be similar to what I have in that the router access will have a password. Keep in mind that not all wireless routers are equal. Some are faster than others but all are generally slower than a wired link to your cable modem. You'll want to have the fastest you can afford.

I bought Wester Digital - My Book Essential 3TB before a year and half.

Its working perfectly and im absolutely satisfied, so I bought next 2 of them

If you want to save money then wait until march, hdd prices will plunge about 20 percent until this time. But I guess that saving a few bucks elsewhere is no big deal.
