Very different!
Had a feeling they would go with Punk Vs Ziggler at the Rumble. John Laurinitis as the special referee . Will be interesting. |

So, I finally finished Raw. All in all, it was a good episode. I'm really impressed with Barrett and Rhodes at the moment. I like Ziggler, but I'll never quite understand why he got the flagship push over those too. He put on a good match though.
Jericho...His return was definitely outside the box. It's clear now that the "It Begins" promos were a ploy to mislead the fans, but his comeback segment? I loved and I hated it at the same time. I loved it because his joy caused by the crowd's reaction seemed legitimate, and because he played with our emotions even more by not speaking just because he could. I hated it because I'm impatient. I'm all for dramatic entrances, but when you get into the ring, you say who unnerved you during all that time you spent sitting on your couch. It's been done a million times before, but dammit, that's classic wrestling to me. That being said, his aim was to make a statement without saying a word, and that concept is cool. Seeing as he has only made one appearance, I wouldn't say that he pulled a Rocky, but what he did puts all that much more weight on next week. But hey, this is a good time to be a fan of wrestling. I can't put down what RoH, TNA, or WWE is doing right now. |

That's what was so genius about Jericho's return. Everyone was expecting him to cut some great old school Y2J promo about how it's great to be back, about how much he missed the fans, but instead all he did was pander to the crowd get them pumped up and then just crushed them by letting them all down by not saying a damn thing and just walking out almost in disgust of them all. I thought it was awesome!
The rest of the show was good as well. Daniels and Rhodes had a good match with lots of back and forth and Daniels eventually getting the small package for the win over the Intercontinental Champion. This is the second loss in a row for Rhodes on Raw and with him defending the IC title against Booker T on Smackdown this week, that doesn't bode well for the IC Champion. The WWE Championship match imo should have been the main event instead of the 6 man elimination match...I understand why it wasn't but it should have been. It was by far the best match of the night and both guys gave a hell of a match only to be decided by a countout?! That was horseshit, but needed to set up Ziggler v Punk for the title at The Royal Rumble. I'd rather see Ziggler be IN The Rumble match, but a title match is ok for him to I suppose..hahaha The end of the show was very mid to late 90's for me...kinda corny but kinda sweet too. I like that Kane is being billed as a psycho and has really brought back the fire and brimstone of the character back...now this is the Kane I like |

I think Jericho's gimmick is going to be someone that thinks he's over-the-top popular and acts like he's super-popular, but while the audience hates him for doing so. Kind of like an updated HonkyTonk Man where he'd be thanking his fans while they were booing the shit out of him. I just think it took too long for the fans in Memphis to realize what he was doing last night, and thus they cheered him too long.
As much as I complained about Ziggler being in the title match instead of the Rumble match, I guess I shouldn't complain about him getting a title match at one of the "Big 4" PPVs. It's just weird, a year ago he was feuding with Edge for the Smackdown title, in a Rumble match with strange stipulations ... and now a year later, he's in the Raw title match, at the same PPV, with strange stipulations. My early prediction for this year: he wins the belt (due to Laurinitis shenanigans) and then loses it back to Punk @ the Elimination Chamber. Quote:
And I have to admit that I'm looking forward to the spoilers from tonight's Smackdown tapings ... either Show or Bryan have to be going heel, right?? And judging by Bryan's reaction to winning via a fluke pinfall last night, I'm suddenly thinking it'll be him. A return to the "I'VE GOT TIL FIVE" type heel that he was in ROH would be fine by me. |

I'm guessing he is going to be a heel. It seemed like he was mocking the fans.

Possibly, but it's hard to tell at this point. Like I said, I think part of it seemed legitimate. He put out effort to get the fans riled up. If he really wanted to make that kind of statement, I think he would've just sat back on the top ropes and let them scream. However, I do think burtog is right that he let them go on for too long. My adrenaline cut off after about the second time he left the ring, but they kept cheering. He was definitely soaking it up, but I don't think it was for ill intent just yet. |

It doesn't help matters that Ziggler does not have a heel voice. Barrett has a heel voice, so does Kane. Ziggler sounds like a college student or something. I guess thats why they gave him Vicki to be his manager and she got him over as a heel.

I don't really care about the voice. His promos have got better too . It's just what Saints said . He is coming off like a heel Zack Ryder. Nobody is buying him as a top guy, well nobody except Colin and Burtog

I am glad to see Ziggler with a title. At least he looks more professional without the tattoos. I think as long as those wrestlers keep getting tattoos, we will see the title change hands every week to compete with the numerous-time champions. It is not the Professional Image the WWE wants to represent them. I think Jericho looked in better shape and he just went out to get the crowd on his side. I think he will be great again for the WWE.
