For a select few it seems to work. Paid members don't seem to have a problem.
It's not so simple for free users and especially free users outside the US.

Too many find DLs strangled to a standstill unless they have paid accounts and the sites are now only compatible with the latest browsers and OS's. No one expects free access to be as fast as paid access, and we all accept inline ads, wait times and delays between DLs. What k2S/FB/Tez have been doing since they "upgraded" their service coding is out of order though. It's close to blackmailing us into paid accounts.

Forums like this one are big enough that if they demand the company remove the speed strangulation and restored backwards compatibility to remain a required or recommnded host, the company would do it because they wouldn't want to lose such a large customer base. So you have to ask yourself why it is they don't.
Let's face it. Far too many of us are facing the same issue for it not to be deliberate.

I have no issue with paying for a site and have always enjoyed the premium service from Keep2Share. That said, I'm having a lot of difficulty right now in trying to set up a premium account with them.

When I click on Premium, it takes me to a page where I have to select a "reseller", all of whom only offer the option of Premium Pro, not Premium.

You mean a company who have been behaving in a really shady way for ages about forcing users into paid memberships now seem to be trying to make it impossible to buy anything but the most expensive packages through obscure third parties?

i have yet to come across that in any post!!

i wouldn't use "dodgy" for k2s, btw, i would use "slow" or "glacial". some sites are dodgy or flaky in that DLs die off midway. or have trouble even getting started to begin with.

this is not the case with k2s. DLs are easy to initiate and always seem to complete. might take 18 hours to do so, but complete they do!

so i wouldn't call them dodgy/flaky. but, yeah, glacially "slow".

When a company is strangling free downloads to the point where trying to use them is futile and then forcing people to buy the most expensive options only through 3rd party sellers, it's pretty clear that some really shady shit is going on.

One of this forum's rules (those are the things moderators beat you relentlessly over the head with for even the tinest of mistakes) is no "premium only" links.
This company are getting away with it by making free links available. The only problem is they make those free DLs impossible to use The forum moderators and admin could do something about it. I've seen it done before. By compaining about the treatment and telling them they'll be removed as an approved host if they don't restore fair access and backward compatibility the company would back down because they don't want to lose a massive customer base

This time it's only smaller forums have done that and they've been told to fuck off because they don't have this forum's weight. You have to make up your own mind as to why PS isn't standing up for its members.

No one expects all the best goodies for free. We accept inline ads, wait times between DLs and a slower DL rate. In the modern age it's not unreasonable to expect free DLs to top out at 100-120kbs. 5-10kbps is taking the piss.
As far as I'm concerned what K2S/FB/Tez is getting away with is a fucking offense to what forums and file hosts were set up for and how they've always operated. If they want a premium only service then they should be honest about it. And IMO this forum should be honest about tacitly supporting a company that's betraying the spirit of its own rules
