It's just with Cena being the kingpin of making wishes and being that huge money draw that no other babyface in the company can come close to, he is Mr WWE . I still think it is too much of a risk for them . The bet is still on though. Saints and I would love it if lost this one. Nothing against crumpets but I'd love to see a heel Cena again.

and that smackdown lineup on paper looks dire. *edit* had a look at the spoilers and it doesn't sound so bad. Quote:
I'm almost certain it will be Chris Jericho . People have even been talking about a new name for him after Jericho has been coming out and saying you will never see Chris Jericho in WWE again. Could be Jericho playing his games or he might come back under his real name with an altered gimmick or something different. We know how he likes to mix things up . I am excited about it though and looking forward to Punk vs Ziggler . |

I don't remember hearing that he wouldn't come back under Jericho, but I did read an interview where he said that if he comes back, he's going to have something new. Personally, I think that's risky. I loved the original Y2J. The second coming was alright. It wasn't bland, but he didn't have the intriguing cockiness to him. I'd definitely prefer that it be Jericho coming back over Clay, though. I said it was Clay because of the way Laurenitus failed to make a transition between points. It's clear that, when Clay does come back, he's going to be higher than he was, but the wrestler who is getting these promos is definitely a main-eventer. I'd bet Jericho, but I'm not exactly unbiased.

If I was guessing I'd guess that Chris Jericho wil most likely return as .......... yeah you guessed it, he will return as Chris Jericho . Those website guys make anything up and sometimes they come up lucky with their guess, the same as us really only they get money for it . And I'm not stupid enough to believe everything I read. I too think it is risky if he comes back with a different name It's not like He is Darren Young or some other bum, this is Chris Jericho!! But we will see on Monday, Perhaps it wont even be him. Perhaps he will return later on during January just to pull a swerve on us and some other person will come out next Monday. |

I hope it is him. If he is healthy they will get another decent main eventer that can really work a match and take bumps. He is certainly a big step up from the Miz, R Truth, or the Big Slow.

If it's Jericho that comes out on Monday, I will mark out so hard that my grandkids will be marking out...hahahaha. I don't even care if he wrestled a full schedule...just his mic work alone is enough for me. Jericho is easily on my Top Ten list of all time, if not Top Five.

I think he should replace Booker on the microphone.

Razor and Diesel was a totally different situation .. When they returned to WWE as part of the WWE version of NWO it made sense for them to use their real names because they used their real names in WCW as part of the NWO .
and Jericho wont be returning to sit at the commentary table . I love Booker. He does talk a lot of shit but that is what he is there for. Cole is supposed to be the serious play by play man only they have turned him into a character. burying people left, right and centre. |

10. CM Punk...Punk is still relatively new to the global Main event stage. His mic work and in ring work get better with every week he is quickly becoming one of the top guys in the business in general. I placed him at #10 because as much as I enjoy Punk's work right now, I wonder if 10 years down the road if he will be talked about the way guys like The Rock and Steve Austin are talked about now.
9. The Rock...his mic work is unparalleled and with every word he electrifies the crowd. And as is very evident from his return this past year, that it does matter what your name is because if it's The Rock, then you mean ratings. His ring work hides in the shadows of his mic work with the latter being the better of the two. Not to say that he's a slouch in the ring, but his mic work is what gets Rock on this list. 8.Arn Anderson...Arn Anderson was the prototype for the tough guy. His nickname of The Enforcer couldn't be more fitting. His in ring work for it's time was hard hitting and realistic. When he walked down to the ring, you knew he was gonna kick someone's ass. And as a member of The Fourhorsemen, he was the elite. While his mic work was never quite up to par with his best friend, Ric Flair, he could definitely hold his own. 7. Ricky Steamboat...Steamboat at his time was the Ultimate Face. He could do no wrong in the minds of fans and his matches proved that. His Intercontinental Championship match with Macho Man Randy Savage at Wrestlemania will go down as one of the greatest of all time. Although limited, his mic work was good when it came to building up towards his matches, especially in his feuds with Ric Flair. 6. Mr. Perfect/Curt Henning...When he made his debut in then WWF, Mr. Perfect was the man. He was cocky and arrogant and he could back up his words in the ring. He was everything he said and more. He was the cocky heel that everyone loved to hate and with his fisherman suplex pin combination dubbed The Perfectplex, he was what everyone wanted to be...Perfect. 5. Chris Jericho...Jericho took the formula that Henning perfected and took it just a little farther. In WCW, he made himself a star when the office didn't have anything to do with him. His mic work in that company was second to none and his work in the ring along with other cruiserweights such as the late great Eddie Guerrero were things of wonder. Later during his time in WWE, Jericho proved that he had what it took to be not just good, but great, becoming WWE's first ever Undisputed Champion. His promos are things of legend and his ring work incomparable having learned from some of the best from all over the world. 4.Chris Benoit...I know that some will feel very strongly about this subject considering what happened in his last days on Earth, but when I think Chris Benoit I think of the wrestler and not of the man who murdered his wife and son before offing himself. I don't know who that Chris Benoit was, I never watched him on TV. The first time I ever saw Chris Benoit the wrestler was during his series of matches with Booker T for the TV Title in WCW. Those matches were absolutely enthralling and captured the imagination. From that moment on, whenever Benoit was wrestling, I was watching. Then when he along with Dean Malenko, Eddie Guerrero and Perry Saturn left WCW for WWE, I was very excited to say the least. His matches with Kurt Angle, The Rock, Chris Jericho and HHH just to name a few would be in a curriculum if there was a class on Professional Wrestling in University...it's just too bad those matches will never be seen again. 3. Macho Man Randy Savage...Everything about Randy Savage screamed Professional Wrestling. From his look to his physcial prowess, at his peak. Macho Man was probably the best well rounded competitor in the world. He could talk, his promos even for today's standards were a world above anything else. 2/3 of the guys in the business today should watch Randy Savage interviews to learn what cutting a promo is all about. In the ring, it has been said that Savage was very particular almost to a fault. His need for perfection in his matches was borderline obsessive but when you look at the results of those matches it's hard to fault Savage...he strived for greatness and he achieved it. 2. Bret The Hitman Hart...As a Canadian, it's almost sacrilege for me to list The Hitman as #2 on my list but really, Number Two is still pretty good..hahaha. Bret's in ring abilities to make the fans believe everything that was going on in the ring, to make it believable. His technical skills are the high bar for all wrestlers that came after him. The mic though has never been his strongest area but when he cut a promo, much like with his in ring work, you believed it. If he said he was gonna kick some ass...well, that ass got kicked. 1. Ric Flair...Ric Flair in my mind is the greatest all around Pro Wrestler. His in ring ability and his ability to take control in the ring was at his peak, the greatest in the business. He was able to make the fans love him or hate him by just a few words and a few actions in the ring. His run with The Four Horsemen is the cookie cutter for working in a stable. The other members of The Horsemen made Flair look good and he did the same for them. His figure four leg lock is a move of legend. So basic a move but just by the selling of it, it is made to look absolutely devastating. Flair is my absolutely favorite professional wrestler of all time. Honorable Mentions...There are some guys that I really like but didn't make the list...the top spot was a real struggle for me. It was between Flair and Stone Cold. Steve Austin. Other wrestlers that I am a big fan of would be HHH, Eddie Guerrero, The Road Warriors just to name a few. |

Catching up on a lot of posts after being gone for a few days ...
I don't think they're going to officially turn Cena anytime soon, but they've started selling anti-Cena merchandise at shows, so I think they're going to encourage the "Let's go Cena"/"Cena sucks" dueling chants even more moving forward. Kane shouldn't have come back as a heel, or masked. He had his ankle injured by a heel - and fans like to cheer him. CM Punk as a smilin', happy-go-lucky babyface sucks. I like him so much better as a heel - his run with the Straight Edge Society (Gallows, Mercury & especially Serena) was his best run in the WWE. I'm probably the only one that's looking forward to Brodus Clay's debut. And if the debut is anyone BUT Jericho, the guy will get shit on - too many people are counting on it being him. Knowing McMahon, he'll do a swerve just because of how anticipated it is (like when Christian was supposed to re-debut) and screw up a money-angle. And my top 10, with minimal write-ups because this post is too long as it is - and I'm not including any current guys. 10) Barry Windham. 09) Curt Hennig/Mr Perfect 08) Terry Gordy 07) Terry Funk 06) Big Van Vader 05) Rick Rude 04) Ric Flair. Used to be #1, but after hearing so many bad things about him backstage, I can't say I respect him the same anymore. 03) Road Warriors. I'm cheating & calling them a single wrestler 02) Steve Austin. Surprisingly, though, I liked him as "Stunning" Steve in WCW more than "Stone Cold" in the WWE. His time in the Dangerous Alliance was awesome, and so was his team with Brian Pillman, and his matches were better IMHO. 01) Mick Foley. From his time in Texas & the CWA through WCW, IWA-Japan & ECW, and up until his time in the WWE as Mankind (before they ruined him), Foley was my absolute favorite for a long time. |
