We enjoy using it and hate to see when it doesn't work. No worry's, ive been using this for YEARS, i wont be stopping unless the site stops existing

Unfortunately, there isn't much we can do beyond sympathise and state that you aren't the only ones getting it.

The staff here have no control over it, I'm not even sure the System Admins have much control over it.
The 502 errors are, at least so far as I'm aware, a consequence of PlanetSuzy being so well populated.

I believe, but I'm not a computer expert, that:

Large number of posts/threads requires a large number of servers to hold that content and provide backups.

Combine that with a large number of registered members searching for content at the same time

=

More calls to the servers when they are already busy, and attempts to move PlanetSuzy to new forum software are being organised.

What's the answer? I wish I knew

Maybe a mass cleanout of threads, or at least dumping some of the older stuff/dead stuff here would allow posts to be 'tidied' and make finding things easier on the servers? - or maybe the messing around with an already ropey database would make things worse?

About all I can say at the moment is 'hang on in there, hopefully things will improve eventually' but I can't offer any idea when 'eventually' is likely to be.

In the interim, you tell us it's still giving 502 errors, and we'll sympathise - because the other option is no-one says anything.

The 502 errors, as I have found, are native to all vBulletin boards, as the 502s happen here and at VintageEroticaForums simultaneously, for me anyway. (I could be wrong about all vB boards, but PS & VEF always go down at the same time.)

So it's definitely out of our hands and should be a known issue which vB is addressing.

We feel your pain... it's no fun trying to mod when you can't access the site...

This is not about vB as such, it just happens that PS and VEF are hosted on the same infrastructure and are therefore affected simultaneously.
So whatever causes this, presumably connection issue between the web server and database server, it affects PS and VEF at the same time.

I have mentioned this on VEF, so I guess I might as well do the same here.

Both PS and VEF are hosted on aorta.net, a hosting network that is part of Virgin Media. I suspect that the ISP plan for both forums has a fixed max bandwidth, and they are maxing out periodically. Probably between a front end proxy server, and one or more back end web servers. In fact, WEF and PS may even be hosted on the same back end web servers, which would explain the similar frequency of 502 errors on both forums.

Any solution to this will require money. So it's more a problem for the forum financial gurus than it is forum admins.
