I think Mensa's like a lot of these arbitrary tests. One can score higher than shit on the test but they still might not be able to turn door knobs with one hand. Test taking is book smarts. One can get fucked up the night before on who knows what and as long as they can memorize that data to spit it back out on the test the next day, they're good to go. It sure as hell doesn't prove they're bright by any means. It just means one can take tests.

Personally I think some of the brightest people out there are the street smart people that can work their way out of any dilemma but can't hit the academics to save their lives. I've seen far too many eggheads get taken because they're just not street savvy enough to realize they're being taken.

So for Asia to be a Mensa member doesn't mean she's bright or even a nice person by any measure. She's just one gal that can take their tests and pass them well.

I think people need a healthy combination of book smarts and street smarts. Natalie Portman is said to be very book smart, but I've heard her in interviews, and she sounds like an idiot. The way Hollywood goes on about her, you'd swear she's a PhD. She has a Psych degree that thousands of other people have. Not to speak of, she's friends with rapist Roman Polanski. I don't know how someone can get so mentally twisted where they look at a kid fucker and think "Ah! Friend material!" Just because someone's book smart, it doesn't mean that much to me. A lot of very smart people are not nice people.

I don't know the particulars of the Roman Polanski thing but years ago I loved watching Traci Lords scenes. Then it came out she was only 15-17 when she made the movies and I was shocked. Never would have guessed she was so young.
