![]() BTW, what do you all think it will happen in the Peyton Manning/Colts/Irsay situattion? I've hear that the last thing Jim Irsay wants is for Eli to win another ring, because that will mean that Peyton will be coming back (along with his 28 million contract), Irsay wants Peyton to retire and build a new team from scratch. ![]() ![]() |

![]() They are gonna try and shop Peyton around and either look for a QB with their 1st pick or if there is no potential superstar in the pool, trade that pick for more depth choices I would say. They built that team around him and now have gutted the team, highly unlikely they will keep 36 year old Peyton and rebuild the franchise around him again.

I'm not sure we have 23 Million bucks we can spend on a QB (Besides, I'm happy w/ Smith), that's probably about 3/4ths of what the defense gets paid. ![]() Besides, franchise QB's on the end of their playing days almost never have the same success, and even if he does play next year somewhere, all it takes is one good hit. The Colts will try to shop him, fail and dump him and pick Luck #1 in the draft. Welcome to the NFL: It's not what have you done for me, it's what have you done for me lately..? |

![]() probably about a 99% likelihood the Colts use the #1 pick on Luck (if not 100%), and then hope he ultimately lives up to the hype. As for Manning, Irsay is probably hoping and praying for continued uncertainty - if March comes and there's still doubt about progress on the neck injury, he can decline the option and let Manning become a free agent without looking like the bad guy. The injury is one of the reasons the deal was structured the way it was, so all this sudden angst is perplexing. Neither one of these guys is fooling anyone: Manning would like to have the option exercised, whether he's healthy or not - $28 mil is a lot of money to get. And Irsay would like to decline the option, even if it looks like Manning is on his way to a near complete recovery - $28 mil is a lot of money to pay out. So they're both jockeying for position. If all this 'it's a family' talk was anything but garbage, they'd agree to let the $28 million option expire and then re-sign Manning at a more reasonable deal, considering the circumstances. But it's a business first and foremost, so both parties are getting their ducks in a row. Between salary and bonus money, Manning took home around $16 million dollars in 2011 to not play a single down. Would be nice to see him remain a Colt, but signing off on another $28 million guaranteed? Seems risky.
Don't really see him in San Francisco, frosty - he's probably not wanting to take snaps behind that weak offensive line, and while you all have a great tight end, no receivers of note. Same for the Redskins, another destination being tossed around. Considering how important the neck is, maybe he should consider retirement... |

My opinion is that they should consider keeping Peyton there. Sure, you take a huge cap hit, but he could mentor for Luck. If I were the Colts, I'd play Manning if he can play and let Andrew soak up that knowledge. If it made that sub par QB you have up in GB better, just think what it could do for a real QB. ![]() |

![]() Still 28 mil is alot of money. Maybe if they renegotiated so he would get less but stay in Indy to mentor Luck that might work. Peyton's agent gets a cut of that 28 mil so he would NEVER let that happen.
