Testing shows that drives past 2Tb have pretty bad reliability.

What you should do is build a FreeNAS box out of an old mobo with a bunch of sata ports and a decent amount of ram, CPU doesn't matter.

An example of some of my folders.

I tag all my files and then create search files for them. So any one file will fall under multiple folders. ie. a video with 2 girls in it will show up under each girls search file.
