Can't remember the last time FF worked as a free user. Each and every time I DL as a free user it always stops in middle of the DL with a network error message once the file is almost downloaded.

@Karmafan, Have you tried with JD2? I was having the same problems with downloading through the browser (FF) and switched to JD2. Works great downloads are completing. Its slow, but it completes.

I've been trying for a while to download a handful of files that have a "Premium Account Required" setting. Sample link:
http://filefactory.com/file/hzkkjn28n0j Most filehosts don't have such a setting, AFAIK. The closest I've seen is a Rapidgator restriction with a similar description, but that one seems to be a lot more benign: It removes or disables the "slow speed download" option, but the download page looks normal otherwise. The usual workarounds (PLGs et cetera) work just fine regardless. Here, as you can see, the download page looks more like that for a file that's been removed, just with a different message. None of the the usual workarounds I know of work - at best, I get an error message like "file size limit exceeded", which isn't actually the case here; at worst, they can't see the file at all. Any ideas? |

Unfortunately, I cannot find alternate downloads for these paticular releases anywhere. Obviously, that was the first thing I tried. Well, there is a public torrent, but it's very dead. Magnet-never-even-resolves dead.

Time to let it go. Premium links require paid accounts. There are other sites where K2s links are premium. PS doesn't allow Premium links, other sites don't restrict. They are common, just not on Planetsuzy; not allowed.

Any chance you can point me to one of those downloads - the smaller, the better? I've come across this only once, that I recall, and that was only because the file was over 4GB (?) in size, at which point k2s caps free downloading. Which was too big to be useful for testing purposes.

Ran into a regular poster here a couple days ago that had accidentally set his fileboom posts to be premium link posts. They were removed by mods. It is likely that uploaders get more money for restricted/premium files from the filehosts. (Size doesn't matter when it comes to premium links) |

^ Almost correct. AIUI the default is set by K2S/FBoom/Tezfiles at 500mB max file size for free download and the uploader has to set it to whatever the maximum is - 5GB I think.
All is explained HERE Also, and again AIUI, the rates for pay-per-download are set by reference to filesize and location of the downloader and nothing else. |
