What if science was the study of a sand box that doesn't even really exist ? But if one were immortal, they would no longer be chained to society's rules. The need to work and pay taxes would go right out the window. You could just live on the road. And the vampire idea would mean that you would get access to all the cash you need, so you could live off of the grid. That is the most attractive part of being immortal to me. But if the ruling leaders were immortal, I can't say I would be affected at that point. Quote:
One thing that science fiction never really got into was the people of the future reacting to the happenings of today. I mean, now we have a glass-covered view of the past. The Civil War, Mozart, The Great Depression, The Black Plague, William Shakespeare-- these were massive events and people of their days, but they're just tokens to us today. So I wonder what tokens will be clung to by the people of tomorrow. I'm not talking about our children, but moreover, our great great grandchildren. How will they see the world before them, and relate to the events that we have lived through. And will the major tokens that we clung to become obsolete? As much as I want to see how the future pans out, I also want to see how the future sees the past. Will our time be understood in the right context, or will it merely be synthesized and covered with glass? |

![]() Where the hell was I when the immortality salesman came around?
All I got was a set of Lightning Rods that don't work, but they do double up as an effective method of sending smoke signals. Vampirism? Hell ..... I'm not that keen on living forever. Jag. (Still trying to figure it out, and running out of time ...)

![]() Vampires are a likely reason. Or Raccons or Possums. If you are in Europe, Elks.

![]() It sounds awesome at first. You would have an unlimited amount of time to waste trying different things and watching the world evolve around you. I am fascinated with technology so it would be interesting to see what the world looks like 500 years from now. It would be fun for awhile, but being alive forever would probably drive some people insane unless they were really disciplined. I think I would go crazy watching people around me age and die all the time. Being mortal is what makes us human. Immortality would be like a non human to me, more like a machine.

But you know that you can't be immortal and stay in the same place forever. You have to keep moving. People around you would start to notice that you aren't aging, and they would get suspicious. After a set number of years, you should go dark and start a new life somewhere else. Me? I'd just live on the road to begin with. I already think little of humanity, so I'd just see the places I want to see forever until they've all burned. |

id consider making it public that i was immortal. only drawback would b that the government under some secret agency might wanna dissect me, but if i was a public media figure i could likely avoid that. many possibilities.. but that could be a quick route to a life of luxury/celebrity & whatnot |

I prefer to die and to be remembered for something great I've done, that's the only kind of immortality I care about. Living for eternity it may become boring. Life is great cause it's short, and we don't know how much short...
