Anyone ELSE notice the resemblance between "the Monk" in this episode, and "the Shadow" in "The Armageddon Factor"?

They're trying to save a few bucks on this series. Probably not the first or last one you'll see recycled. The stuff's got to be sitting in a closet somewhere.

Oh, and I'm totally not buying Missy being the one in the vault regardless of what the plot is so far. They are just making it too obvious and Moffat doesn't do obvious.

As easy as it is to start panning the last episode, I came across a movie site yesterday afternoon that allowed me the chance to watch The Doctor Who Movie from 1996 w/Paul McGann and Eric Roberts AND the movie Doctor Who and the Daleks from 1965 w/Peter Cushing for free. I doubt I'm allowed to mention the free movie site, so that's out. But I now have a reference to the all-time worse Doctor Who story in existence in the first movie mentioned. This episode was no where as bad as the first and only slightly better than the second, (although seeing 1965 Daleks was worth it's weight in gold), probably just due to the newer Special Effects.

IMHO one of the worst of the modern era was the one where the Moon is an egg...

It should be noted that the Daleks in the Peter Cushing movie were built just for the movie's use. The episodes in the TV series which those movies were based on used regular style Daleks. Nothing special. And I liked Paul McGann as the Doctor, but I'm glad Amblin didn't decide to go foward with it as a series. Going by what I read of possible storylines, there would have been a number of character changes, including turning Cybermen into "Cybs" and the Dalek's would have walked like spiders (which is why they were only heard and not seen in the McGann flick, just in case the series was picked up they could introduce the new look. If not, then no harm done). They were also going to rewrite old episodes. Even a few classics. Again, I'm glad they never went that far. |
