Terrible. I paid for "premium" and the download is as slow as dial up and almost always "interrupts". Frankly, I think it is a rip off.

About a month ago, TorrentFreak predicted Rapidgator would shut down as a result of PayPal stopping them from using its service:
Cyberlocker To Shut Down After PayPal Ban "RapidGator, one of the file-hosting sites that grew exponentially following the Megaupload shutdown last month, has been banned by PayPal. As a result, the Russian-based site says it will close the service in a month. According to PayPal, the RapidGator account was closed due to the “high risks” associated with processing payments to file-sharing services. During the wake of the Megaupload raids in January, TorrentFreak kept a close eye on the cyberlocker world. While many file-hosters panicked, former Megaupload users hopped from site to site trying to find a suitable alternative. RapidGator was such an alternative, and in recent weeks the site saw its traffic increase from a few hundred to over a hundred thousand visitors a day. However, this newly gained popularity may only be short-lived as the cyberlocker has just lost its most popular payment option, PayPal. “PayPal just informed us that our PayPal account is closed due to the high risks of processing file sharing payments,” RapidGator announced. According to the site’s operators this may very well be the end of the file-sharing industry. PayPal has frozen the cyberlocker’s funds for 6 months and new users can no longer make payments through PayPal. The ban probably means that “affiliates” can’t be paid through PayPal either. It’s not exactly clear what “high risk” PayPal refers to, but one of the most likely options concerns the many chargebacks people carried out at other cyberlocker services recently. Many users asked for their money back from PayPal when other cyberlockers such as Fileserve temporarily disabled public sharing. RapidGator believes that PayPal’s policy will affect other file-hosters as well. “Seems that all new file sharing hosts will experience same fate like us and all other big hosts,” they write, adding that the site will close if nothing changes in the coming month. “We did our best to make it work, but unfortunately this circumstance doesn’t depend on us. We will run the host for a month, and if nothing will change, we will close it after,” the RapidGator team concludes. While more cyberlockers may fall victim to the same fate in the future, for now many of the largest sites including 4Shared are still accepting PayPal payments." A month has go by, and RG is still in business, but it may well cease operating without notice.

Reason: adding extra info
We have very good news guys. Rapidgator been sold to the new owner, so website will not be closed. We have new management and new developers and we are going to make RapidGator one of the best filehosting sites. All partners will get paid in a few days.... Their advertising is slick Far too early to make any sort of judgment but personally I wont be going near it because history shows all too well what happens when ALL registered users are offered cash for uploads/traffic. They were only recently taken over so i'd think the sensible approach would be to wait a month see how they fair.Reading places like wjunction will tend to tell you about their performance from a few perspectives. Personally i'll be sticking with those that have discarded their rewards programs because they at least wont be in danger of over heating due to people uploading like dogs in heat to all parts of the internet simply to earn. From the perspective of offering downloaders options that arent going to be inaccessible i'd sooner choose the likes of mirrorcreator for smaller files up to 200/250mb if only to take some of the heat of your chosen premium host - offers multiple download hosts currently 8 for free users |

When we tested RapidGator, it was great. Like many newer hosts, though, they can't handle the type of intake that being added to a site like PlanetSuzy comes with. They're slow for everyone as far as I can tell.
As for the accusations that money has to do with them being added here, I can assure you that it doesn't. Mods are volunteers, and we judge hosts based several factors concerning the members of this site-- money isn't one of them. By allowing a host, we don't get paid for it. |

first time filesonic opened, it was similar. but in time, they improved.who pays highest to uploaders always gets more uploaders and sells more premium.
Just wait 1-2 months, I think they will improve because they dont have much competitors.
