Honestly it depends on what I'm listening to. There are some things that, to me, will always sound better as a record. I was given The Who Live at Leeds on CD and hated it. You need the hisss and crackle.

My preference is FLAC but will take WAV or mp3
.
Low quality sound, like low mp3s at less than 320 sounds awful through my (run-of-the-mill) setup, and my better half complains about the metallic tinge; so I get my music in mp3 but only if nothing else is available. Otherwise I prefer lossless. Right now I'm hunting to upgrade my library of mp3s to FLAC. Obviously not everything is available. My music collection occupies about 1,5 T. I wonder if one day I'll be stuck with a bunch of FLACs while lacking the ability to produce mp3s as needed. . . |
