I stand open to be corrected, but as far as I know Mpeg Streamclip can only output to .avi, .mov or .mp4. If that is the case any .wmv file you edit in Mpeg Streamclip has to be re-encoded to one of those three formats. There is no such thing as "lossless" re-encoding and there will always be some loss of quality when re-encoding from one format to another.

It might be the case that you can clip an .avi, .mov or .mp4 with Mpeg Streamclip by simply copying the stream (though I'm not sure about that), but I really don't think it is the case when it comes to .wmv as it has to be re-encoded and re-compressed.

Oh boy. I randomly remembered this thread, my apologies, I completely forgot to reply at that time O_o

So, yeah, if anyone needs a one year late confirmation, AsfBin does the job properly.
It will allow to select the bits you want out of a .wmv file, and save it without recompression and loss of quality, in just two seconds. The only disconcerting bit is that it saves as .asf, but it's not an actual issue, so we're good.

Additional info, to do the same with mp4s, remove the bits you don't want, save without any loss of quality and recompressing, there is MP4Split, available on http://mp4joiner.org/en/

Try Avidemux, an open source software that serves what you're looking for, without the need to reencode the original .wmv

In fact, this is the soft that I use for that purpose and it has never given me any problem
