Depends... I have 39 add-ons and 9 plug-ins and a unique theme, so I can't be too disappointed.

Is this a browser or an operating system? I switched lately to palemoon, a stripped FF with only 3 security related add-ons (noscript, adblock, betterprivacy). I want to have my browser open in less than a second. Time is money and I don't want to waste it for any browser of this world. |

All known browsers are being tweaked for many new features; speed is not the only reason for frequent upgrades.

A few I use for modding* here (and elsewhere), some are security-related, and the rest are more for convenience than anything else. I just went through and got down to 34:

Google Chrome; fast and lean. IMO, runs more efficiently than Firefox and doesn't feel clunky. I was an avid Firefox user pre-Chrome and did have trouble switching initially but now hate even opening Firefox, but alas cross-browsing issues still arise in the world of web development.
I use Google all the time so being able to search anything direct from the address bar very easily is perfect for me. Plus when there is an update, Chrome has a little icon notifying you and doesn't force you to stop browsing like Firefox does. I urge anyone who continues to use Firefox and hasn't really given Chrome a go to put it through the motions. Some may still not like it but users who are minimalists and prefer fast browsing over anything else will certainly see the benefits. Good luck SCD

Firefox 21.0 & Firefox Android
Quote:
I now have Firefox running 99% faultlessly across 3 platforms - Windows, Linux and Android and keep scratching my head why Microsoft find this so difficult now with Internet Explorer... to the point that I am not even bothered by their latest incarnation IE 10.0 - I mean I really no longer care anymore with IE. One issue I did have with the Windows version was with javascript, however I cleaned out all traces of java, including the detriss left behind by older versions, ccleaner was excellent at cleaning this out together with another tool called JavaRa, an excellent java cleaning tool. A fresh install of Java Runtime has done the trick for me anyway. (I never rely upon the bog standard uninstalls anyway, and always clean the Windows registry with Ccleaner - you can always save before effecting any changes). I tried Chrome (for Windows) about a year back and found it not a good performer for reasons I can't remember except it kept making changes favouring google, Facebook and Twitter, making me suspicious about the privacy settings.. At least with Firefox I have better control over my privacy, cache and cookie handling etc. imho. Chrome may be a better option for some people, but I hate it on my Android smartphone preferring the control I have with the Firefox Android version. Cheers & beers |

then you're really not "wasting" anything...you're just spoiled. If you are a CEO of a Fortune 500 company, then I apologize. The eyes are always the first to go, aren't they..? Quote:
I like my url bar on this side <--- and my search engine on that side -->. Not to pick on Google, I also hate the new combo History/Downloads on FF as well. Tech people, please quit fu*king around with my browser trying to reinvent it every three months. |

Firefox was fine back in the day but now it's the worst browser for memory. It's such a memory hog that even 1 tab open can run 200M of memory just idle. Heaven forbid if I open multiple tabs at once

Hell, go one step further. You select what functions it has too! (Again, in a simple way if possible). buildyourbrowser.com Quote:

Firefox works much better on my 9 year old machine than Chrome does. It's a P4 3.6Ghz, 1GB RAM.
