Faster post making

I'd rather encourage automated script posting (if possible) only when the script puts enough and necessary file info in it.
In fact, I'd love to have some templated posting system here, requiring each file info in separated boxes and their being checked automatically to the right formats; not just one free format post comment box we have right now.
A manually crafted post even made after lots of effort and time is wasted if it has noise thanks to the hard work.
I know I am a minor here.

Your video template has one weak point. Placing preview pic in the second line makes a post less understandable when seen in search result. The second line should be replaced by more info rich content such as your current 3rd line. Pic post template as well.

What's wrong with posting bots? As long as they follow the rules, I have no beef with them. If they keep simple posts, I'd rather want them flood with their posts instead of having lengthy noise rich posts by hand.
I mean, I know the rule 6b. I want to know the reason behind it. Because some power posters posts are the same as bot made ones, and we allow/accept it.

Thanks for that! I actually did not know that I post preview in second line myself but will in future prepared posts change that for tech. info.

Anyway .. I do as SaintsDecay do. Prepare multiple posts for various threads that I post in. I put the posts for PATM in a txt of it´s own and I have txt´s for each thread I have here.

I prepare every single post with all links to the filehosts I use and I do not bother to check for duplicates (in PATM) until the day I post the clip. If it turns out to be a duplicate I just delete the post from the txt. If some of the files, including a non posted required host, is still not posted I remove the duplicate links and post the rest.

I hate preparing posts lol. Time consuming, but once a bunch is prepared the next week+ I benefit from that.

I don't use any automation, yet always use the same form for all my content posts, in the following order:

Performer name and scene title in header rather than in body.

My own description of the scene, plus some personal comments of why I liked it. I try ensure that anyone who reads my description will know what they will be getting.

File format, size, resolution and duration.

Screens: 1 thumbnailed narrative sequence, and the DVD cover, both at 350px height. Rarely I will also include a large single image that I consider representative.

Download link wrapped in a code box. (I do this to avoid filelockers from knowing how many referrals they receive from PS, in case they one day decide to start cooperating with the authorities).

A brief message of good wishes to the downloader.

I once said: "be consistent in the overall style of your posts: displaying the info in the same manner helps to create a brand, your brand". I still feel the same way today.

Here are a few examples, as you can see, the style is consistent: ONE, TWO, THREE.

I think the primary concern here is reinventing the wheel. We are in the age of technology and everyday it should be helping us to do less "hard" work and more "smart" work.

First and foremost let me be clear, I disagree with automatic programs that post meaningless content for an objective other than to value the user who is reading it. A forum is a community of people around a particular or variety of subjects and it's important to ensure everyone who is involved participates to the best of their ability.

Secondly expanding on Tomoyuki's post, I think thought needs to be put into making posting more efficient. I'm not talking about general discussions such as this one that requires only text, I'm talking about the forums where members post videos and photos and no discussions are required. Perhaps different posting templates can be created to allow the poster to display their content easily and quickly, rather than having to first create a template in notepad and then having to always copy the many codes such as IMG and URL into every single post. Let me explain further:

Let's say we had the following basic posting template (already developed):

[Post Heading - font size 18px]
[Sub-heading - font size 12px]

[Primary photo - max w/h: 500px]
[Photo description]

[Secondary photo - max w/h: 300px]
[Third photo - max w/h: 300px]

[Screencaps photo]

[Additional info]

[Download Links - start]
[mirror 1 - host xyz]
[mirror 2- host abc]
[mirror 3 - host 123]
[Download Links - end]

Now as you can see I've already defined a few options for each section and these would be created only once to save time. Then all one has to do it when posting is select the template he/she wants to use in the reply interface (i.e. drop down) and all options would automatically be displayed (input fields) and they just entered the values. Then insert some simple BBcode like [usertemplate=default] hit submit and voila.

Obviously you can either create standard templates or allow users to create their own but it would streamline the posting process for these particular areas. Furthermore it would allow admins/mods to have full control over what file hosts are allowed, a recurring problem it seems. If a file host were used that was disallowed, it would be stripped automatically! This would allow the mods to actually moderate the important stuff that machines can't interpret (well, they probably can, but that's another discussion!).

Anyway, that's just my two cents.

Yeah, I would oppose that to my grave.

Some posting styles are hard to mod, some are inconsistent, but by no means should all posters use the same style. I'll take modding a couple hundred dumbass posts where the previews are hotlinked and the file info is at the bottom over enforcing one uniform style board-wide any day. People should be able to post in whatever style they want as long as all the info is there.

Agreed.

At the end of the day we're humans, not robots. Seeing the same thing day in day out makes things repetitive and boring. The only reason people in the industrial era actually worked in factories and boring jobs is because they were conditioned that way with standardisation methods (i.e. school). Thankfully it's getting better today with the Internet but some "old thinking" methods are still in place so it's important to continuously cultivate free thinking and creativity using various means, one of which is allowing individual customisation (i.e. post style). Of course we still need to employ critical thinking to ensure the outcome remains efficient as possible but you get the general gist.
