So...LA fired Mike Brown.
Who's next ? Jerry Sloan, D'Antoni or will Phil come back from retirement ? My money is on D'Antoni.

I don't see them getting D'Antoni. It is such a stark contrast to what Kobe is accustomed to. I think Sloan would be a good fit. His pace of basketball would match the Lakers, and it could be effective. The only problem is whether Sloan can coach primadonnas at this stage. He resigned from the Jazz due to Deron Williams, so him coaching Kobe, World Peace, and Howard would be interesting. Jeff Van Gundy could be a possibility. He's coached teams where players liked to iso (Houston, Sprewell, McGrady) and the teams had a dominant center (Ewing, Yao). I'm not sure if hiring assistants from another team during the season is aloowed, but if so, I could see Brian Shaw as a darkhorse to be the Lakers next head coach. Shaw was a long time assistant under Phil with the Lakers and was expected to take over when Phil retired.

San Antonio won at Portland 112-109 (after 7 consecutive losses there). It was the best game of the season IMO until today. The score of the 4th quarter alone was 39-30 to the Spurs. The Spurs had 63 points from players who came from the bench and Blazers just 4. Great game from Nicolas Batum with 5/7 three-pointers. One of the 2 he missed is the last (off balance), for the win, 12 seconds before the end.
I wouldn't have thought that it would come this day, but it's true. Greg Popovich's Spurs play at the moment the most offensive basketball on the NBA. |

T-wolves are going to be amazing when Rubio and Love come back.
Denver is looking a little disappointing to me, I'd imagine they would have a stronger start to the season, coming off as the #1 ranked offense last year. Where Brooklyn at, where Brooklyn at!!!! Deron william's injury is looking pretty serious, which kills me because he's my favorite player. OKC should have not let Harden go. Miami still the team to beat so far for the championship, Ray Ray is looking like he's breathing new life. My impressions of the season so far. |

I was wondering if ESPN was gonna give Phil Jackson his own "The Decision" special, anyway it look like it was his job to turn down but, LA wasn't going to play the waiting game and it look like D'Antoni the one.
http://espn.go.com/los-angeles/nba/s...angeles-lakers http://espn.go.com/los-angeles/nba/s...rs-source-says The T-Wolves could make some noise but, it won't be much if players keep getting injured Chase is the latest to get injured with his knee they are starting to look like how my Trailblazers used to be with all the injuries Adelmen a good coach so they should still be competitive until Love and Rubio come back hopefully the won't dig themselves a hole. |

Lakers hire D'Antoni, so let show-time begins. We are not gonna see the "7 or less offensive system" but a great offensive basketball is guaranteed. As for defense (D'Antoni's teams had problems with it in the past) Lakers will based on Metta World Peace & of course Howard.
Now, it's 100% sure that Lakers (healthy ones) will be at the Playoffs. What will happen next... only God knows. |

As I've mentioned countless times before am not a Lakers fan but I reckon it was terrible decision to hire D'Antoni.
Since it seems impossible to see Doc Rivers in LA, I reckon the best option in the market by far is Doug Collins of 76ers. LAL would be at the Playoffs, even if Mike Brown had been kept as head coach. It doesn't sound like a wise move IMHO.

Anyway, I just saw the Lakers-Spurs clash and i don't see how the Lakers could be worst than that in the future. None player except Bryant know what to do with the ball in offense. On the other hand, after a great game at Portland, Spurs shoot below 40% (the majority of them are open shots). Someone would say that only win counts in the end. But IMO it was a terrible game. |

IMO the biggest problem in Philly is the lack of skilled players. They got Bynum but it seems so far his knees are falling apart. Who else? No one! That's why I reckon Collins deserves a lot of credits. Quote:
BTW: Irving will be MVP soon "
