I was ready to write an obituary for the Cubs for the 2017 season, but they made a great trade with the crosstown Sox for a quality starting pitcher, probably aren't done dealing, and have ripped off 4 in a row while the first place Brewers are starting to stumble. Still a ton of ball to play, but the team came out of the break looking rested and determined. Perhaps a championship hangover has subsided, or the law of averages is righting itself and they are ready for a hot streak. I still don't see the Brewers holding on for an entire season, but there are still the Cardinals and a suddenly hot Pirates team to worry about in a bad but close division. Wildcards won't be from the central, so an outright division win is the only route to the postseason, unless something crazy happens.

Just worrying about the Nationals at the moment. Even after last year, I still refuse to believe the Cubs won't mess things up somehow. A Cubs/Red Sox would be a fantastic series. Would have been even better years ago when they were both the "cursed" teams, but still a good matchup with two of the best fanbases in the game (no offense to any other team).

The cubs arent the same, remember last year? they dominated and had everything wrapped up, last night their magic number was 1, they are good and will make the playoffs but you can sum up their year by saying, they are ok. they are good, not great. the nationals are and so are Cleveland and the dodgers, i dont see the cubs getting to the WS, i hope im wrong, as a Bostonian/diehard red sox fan i would love to see that matchup

Looks like we were all wrong at least a little bit. Cubs got a little magic when they needed it most, but their bats are going to have to really heat up to have a shot at beating the Dodgers.

A Yankee/Cub World Series would be pretty crazy, but if I am completely honest I am predicting Yankees/Dodgers.
