I have no premium account but I upload only a few files on mega.nz, which doesn't delete files never downloaded and that's very important.

K2S is used because it reliably pays its "affiliates". Same with its twin site Fileboom along with Filejoker and Rapidgator, which between those 4 account for almost all the links on this site and pretty much every adult video forum on the 'net. If you are looking for anything, you can almost guarantee you'll find it on most of those, because those sites pay out. But to do that, they have to be nearly unusable by free downloaders. Hence the slow speed and heavy restrictions. Sites like Mega, Zippyshare, they are free user friendly. But they also do not pay uploaders. So there's no incentive for uploaders to use it unless the uploaders are doing it for fun and not profit. But that is not the case for most uploaders, especially the "zero day" uploaders. So they use the crappy slow restrictive hosts to try to get you to buy a membership through their links. And it works, obviously. Because they keep uploading, paying only lip service to the whole "free" aspect of this site. Sure, it's free... if you are willing to wait and download at a snails pace.

As a premium downloader I find K2s to be value for money. I did a cost$/gb analysis a month or two ago and Filejoker were 74% more expensive than K2s for a 90 day account.

If you have the time may I suggest you do a cost benefit analysis on Rapidgator, Depositfiles, etc and see who offers more bang for your buck.

I just signed up for K2S, and my download speeds have been terrible. A few days ago (the first time I used it), they were about 500KB/s (I'm on a 300Mb/s connection). Now it's even worse. Right now I'm downloading a file, and it's only getting 48KB/s. Miserable. I'm using the Chrono Downloader for Chrome, and it says it'll take another 4 hours to complete a 700MB file.

Terrible performance... anyone have any suggestions as how to deal with this?

I sent a message to k2s support the same day asking them why. I finally got the following response from Michael in support on 5th June:

Dear Customer.

Your request was sent to the technical department. Please wait. We will try to solve your problem as soon as possible.

I'm still waiting for a follow up response!

Seems like something fishy is going on. On Trustpilot a number of lifetime subscribers are complaining about slow download speeds and then being banned out of the blue too.

Maybe k2s are genuinely experiencing technical issues but the cynic in me would say they are actively culling lifetime members in favour of more lucrative premium pro members.

It was suspicious that every time I logged in to my account in the weeks running up to me being banned I was presented with an ad encouraging me to upgrade to premium pro. I didn't take up the offer as personally I was happy with a daily 20gb download limit ... then bang ... I'm banned for no reason ... hmmm

I'll keep you posted.....

It may or may not be linked but is fishy:

The re-capcha system is being very picky on FB links, like five or six sets of 'sorry-try again's - thirty-odd capcha's to solve! (I'll try to remember to count the next set)
Heck! Even the filejoker countdown had run out before it let me through!

email support. I recently re-signed up to K2S on premium pro (I let prev account lapse due to poor speeds) but most uploaders use them so I tired them again.

I had awful speeds when I first started using it (as I have mentioned on here) but after emailing support I got a reply, sent them some stats they needed and within about 4/5 days I was getting really decent speeds + they added extra days to my account.

It's still not perfect considering I am prem pro (for example I get double the speed with Uploaded using a multi hoster) but it will do for me

Regarding banned accounts.

K2S has so many big files that I want.
It takes about 12 hours to d/l them in free and they often disconnect.
I am on a fairly fast fibre connection.
So I am thinking of buying a sub, but from some of the comments above I am not so sure.
I do wish uploaders would consider other sites as well.
