We only use either Whatsapp or Skype. Plus we have an official website, as well a Facebook page, with all our contact details (including address and email).
We still use email for certain things, although very randomly.
We all the technologies we have now to communicate with the whole world, there's no reason to rely on emails only for important communications.

Lazy co-workers, as some of the Planet know I work part-time at my local movie theater and on Friday only two Ushers were scheduled including myself. The other Usher disappeared behind concessions without stepping into a theater and a manager had to prod him to come clean.

During that time I was working on getting ahead and inspired the District Manager, the Scheduling Manager, a prospective Manager to give me a hand; not the other usher though.

The efforts of myself, another co-worker and those managers was wasted because the other usher told me that he really doesn't care and he's been working like this for a while and is not worried about getting fired. It pisses me off even more that with such little work and at the end of the row this co-worker takes out and fucks around on his phone.

We fell behind so badly that I was unable to speak to the manager's about previous guest complaints without risking more guests complaining about dirty theaters and I'm not even sure if the closing duties were completed.

The laziness continues with the scheduling manager who when I started the schedule comes out on Sunday ... then late Sunday ...then early Monday and now very early Tuesday and disregards employees talents/preferences/availability.

Do you know what else pisses me off? Sniffing. Get a fucking kleenex!

People who come round to my house to visit and are constantly checking their phone, facebook, Instagram or twitter, just so they can see how many likes or retweets they've got. I now have a no phones policy and a couple of mates really struggle with it.
As for mobiles in cinemas; these people should be shot.

The Government shutdown. 800,000 Americans should not be without pay, while the people in government who actually shut the government down actually get their pay. (Before someone tries to censor what I said because I said government, I am not taking a political sides, it is in fact an economic issue.) Rents have to be paid, families need to eat, car payments must be paid, and when you don't pay your bills on time it messes up your credit.

Out of respect to a fellow co-worker who had their aunt pass away last week, I attended the viewing of his aunt to offer support (I did not attend the funeral the next day). No big deal as he's a cool guy and the funeral home was on the way home. I didn't know anyone else there as I wasn't close with the family other than my co-worker so I made a quick bee line to shake my buddy's hand and wish him my sincere condolences.

On my way out, I saw two younger people taking selfies of themselves and the deceased aunt in the casket. I was shocked and thought that was absolutely the worst in manners. Now I have no idea if they were posting it to social media or not but regardless I was always taught that viewings/ funeral services were kind of solemn events. Somehow taking a selfie just seemed more about the kids taking the pic than the person who had passed. I never knew of anyone that had ever taken a picture of the recently deceased like that and just thought of it as really bad form. Not even dead celebrities get their pictures taken by the paparazzi out of sheer respect.

I was mildly miffed.

But am I justified? Or am I just THAT "older guy" who has a different set of social norms from these younger whipper snappers??

Okay, it seems as though my outrage wasn't too far off the beaten path.

I also noticed they took a few pics of the aunt in the casket too. I know the selfie thing is an absolute no-no, but how do you folks feel about just a pic of the deceased?

I was pretty uncomfortable with that as well.

I know that a lot of people have cell phones/ cameras nowadays but does one have to capture every bit of minutia in life? Again, I didn't know the lady- but I thought that the moment of her in the casket should be the last mental image that a family should have with her. It doesn't need to be recorded. And as skilled as some morticians are- they never get the person's alive likeness down pat. Why are these dopes documenting this???
