I've been using Lossless Cut a ton lately to do exactly that. Really saves a lot of space and is extremely fast/efficient. Sometimes those plot/chat/whatever scenes are half the video, so it really adds up.

Lossless Cut is a great little tool. I use it to quickly cut the scenes I want from full movies.

Another great tool to loseless cut (at keyframes) is Avidmux

Topaz Video AI (upscaling/enhancing)
Adobe Premiere Pro (color corrections)
StaxRip (multipurpose but I mainly use it for color fine-tuning/noise and artifact correction)
LosslessCut (trimming videos)
Shutter Encoder (nice AiO tool that was replaced by others but is still a great free tool for people learning)
FFMPEG (Final video encodes)

I wonder how that app would fit in and if it would be better. Have you tried any of the above?
