It's less me being surprised and more me being annoyed at the fact that they put the Bellas turning on Ronda Rousey (which is leading to a match that no one wants) on a top 5 betrayals of all time list when it isn't even in the top 5 of this year. It isn't in the top 5 of this year. It isn't in the top 5 of all time. It isn't in the top 10 of all time. It isn't in the top 30 or top 50 or top 100 or top 1000 of all time. It's just as horrible as that shitty angle where Nikki turned on Brie 4 years ago.

I agree but it's just them hyping the match. Sunny did her porn video after being added to the hall of fame. I suppose they could delete her from it but that would just draw attention to it. I thought McMahon did say that Chyna would be added at some future date but that could have been just trying to abate the critics. |

Finally got around to watching the ShowDown ppv. Usually I d/l the PPVs the next day or within 3 days at the latest. But the last PPV was so damned boring and unoriginal that it made me not give a shit about watching the next one until I had nothing better to do.
Seems like some of the wrestlers are beginning to get a little more physical with the action. Some of the matches seemed a little faster paced and more violence oriented rather than "acrobatics" focused. Particularly the Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair match. Usually I FFW through the womens matches because they're so stupid. But that kinda shit I can actually watch. So... good for them if they ARE finally making an effort to up the ante on the action more. One thing I wish WWE would knock the fuck off is that annoying in-and-out camera zooming shit when someone hits another wrestler. Sometimes they get so fucking crazy with it that it's like watching Blair Witch Project: just nauseating. The Undertaker vs Triple H match was bullshit though. They need to stop letting Undertaker have matches at all. He's too damn old and has too many physical problems. His knees are shot, he's got heart problems, etc. I love the Undertaker, he's among my favorites, and he's an even cooler person OUTSIDE of the ring, but for his own sake, they need to leave him alone. And furthermore, as a fan of Undertaker, it pisses me the fuck off to see that company USING him to legitimize their other talent by letting them beat him. Without Undertaker, WWE wouldn't be around. Out of all the talent they ever had, he was one who stayed loyal and NEVER joined the other organization unlike Hogan and many others did. Just sucks how they treat him in my opinion. They give him lots of money for these appearances, sure, but at this point, it's about more than money. They should have more fucking respect for him than they do. |

NXT UK is airing Wednesdays now, which I'm really looking forward to. New talent that I haven't seen before doing crazy shit I haven't seen. Quite refreshing.
As for that Undertaker match, there was something odd about it all and the HBK vs. Undertaker thing was just weird. HBK and HHH book matches for a living so I'm not sure what the fuck that clusterfuck was. The whole ending was stupid, they probably should have given a spot for Kane to do during the match because he's just like a potato at the moment - bland and always there doing fuck all. He has other responsibilities now, but there is no harm in giving him a spot in a match that was a fuck up for what it was meant to be. The build up was yet again just a rush hype, whereas they should have built that up niggling away at Undertaker throughout the year with just casual digs during promos and segments. Don't get me started on the countdowns, its like some 15 year old is picking that shit disregarding all the old content lmao. |

I've been dreading the Raw shows of this month since I knew they would have to feature a ton of women's segments like last night's snooze fest. The problem with relying heavily on nostalgia is that in theory this whole women's revolution thing is inherently anti-nostalgia.
The implied point of it is that "The women's stuff you saw before sucked, so now we're going to do a more serious and athletic women's division." The Bellas were at the very heart of that suck, yet here they are as focal points of the PPV because of...well, you know. Trish and Lita were fine and all but they don't have any particular rub to give and having them go over Alexa and Mickie is pointless. On top of that, the storylines are legitimately just as sucky as they’ve always been. There’s been zero improvements in that aspect whatsoever. Hell, the Sasha/Bayley “feud” from this last year felt just like the AJ/Paige “frenemies feud” except with a shit payoff. They do not care about this PPV. They don't care about more than 4 women at most. They're only doing this show because of the initial backlash of them performing a PPV where women weren't allowed to compete. Them deciding to do the same thing week after week and build to ANOTHER male exclusive show instead of switching it up and building their female division for a PPV is insulting. It's insulting to the intelligence of the audience, to the women in the company, and to the idea that these divisions are equal. The thrown together aspects of Evolution are due to WWE half-assing to the finish line again. WWE follows their template to dangerously boring degrees. Bayley and Sasha came into the main roster off of one of the hottest women's feuds of all time and they STILL fucked them up. Asuka was one of the most dominant competitors in the company's HISTORY, but instead of rolling with it they put her on the backburner. Hell, Becky could be considered a failed heel right now because they want Charlotte to remain a face so that we'll be 'surprised' when she wins the Royal Rumble and turns in order to face Ronda Rousey down the road. Evolution is a means to an end. The only thing historic about it is that it's happening. WWE doesn't care if it's actually good. And that's the most disappointing aspect about all of this. Almost everyone from NXT loses whatever made them unique when they arrive on the main roster shows. When’s the last time Bayley even hugged anyone or was star struck about meeting legends like how she was in NXT instead of “I’m just happy to be here.” What about Sasha? She looked dead inside walking out there for her return, at least to me. It’s so sad that they’ve ruined so many of their talent due to poor booking decisions.

Last night proved once again that Becky Lynch can say and do anything only to get cheered.

I know they did it already at Raw 25 but how f'n great would it have been for Austin to come out when they were doing that dance break. Everyone knew at Raw he was showing and it was still the reaction it was. This time they wouldn't have known and it would have been more hilarious given what asses of themselves they were making in the ring. If only he cared more, he would have showed up, even to just get that f'n podcast with the Undertaker. Same for Rock, he could have at least done a video like Cena.
I was rather disappointed in the show, they didn't really do anything or than change those meaningless tag belts. Mysterio and Shinsuke had no chemistry from what I could tell and were probably under strict time constraints, followed by the Undertaker promo that was maybe the most pointless ever beating out his previous Raw 25 what the fuck is he going on about promo. Shouldn't Rey technically get a US title match now by the typical booking standard lol. Best part of the show was the Batista promo as it genuinely felt like he was unscripted and legit. Not that interested in the match though, the build will have to be pretty great. |
