Why is the media so biased in what they report? And why are so many people full of shit. This happened on May 10th and barely made the news. (I am in the United States and found about it by reading a UK news paper.) A married Maryland couple in their 80s were killed at a Delaware cemetery by a gunman whom authorities later found dead, according to reports.

Sheldon C. Francis, 29, gunned down an 85-year-old woman and her 86-year-old husband Friday morning on the grounds of the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Bear, NBC Philadelphia reported.

I saw no protest at an 86 year old veteran and his 85 year old wife being killed so violently by an African American. I saw no outrage, they barely reported on the story here in America. Where are the protests? Where are the celebrities and intellectuals to say it is not right to do that to these innocent elderly victims? Where is the media coverage?

A white woman calls the police on an African American person it makes the front page here in America and she even gets fired from her job. An evil person kills two elderly people it barely makes the news, so damn sad.

And before this comment disappears or I receive a warning or strike, I am of color, what I am is not someone who thinks it's okay to shoot, loot (steal), attack, destroy building by fire and assault people. There is a massive hypocrisy of justifying stealing, shooting, physically attacking others, arson and destruction by saying we are protesting violence.

Because as much as I want to stay informed my mental health is suffering and this last week I've been sleeping as much as 12-18 hours a day and maybe what I need to is to unplug by locking up my phone/mouse and focus on something more productive.

Laughing my ass off at the incredibly stupid term white privilege. So let me get this straight, people of color don't want to be discriminated because of the color of their skin (calm down I am one of them too, a person of color.) But because of the color of a white persons skin you want to single them out. I thought that singling someone out because of the color of their skin is racist. Whether the color of their skin be White, Black, Brown etc.

It's stupid when people of color use the phrase White privilege and even dumber when so called "white people" use it. Are you kidding me? Hey geniuses you do realize that if you target people of any color just because they are born with a certain skin color including White people that is racist. Right?

Sick of the news and so called "White people'" (celebrities and politicians) apologizing about their privilege and all their advantages just because they were born a certain skin color. Here in the US there are more "White people", tens of millions more born and living in poverty than ever other ethnicity in the United States.

These kinds of threads give me a headache. As they were allowed long before I came back to staff, they lend themselves to a loosening of the leash, as far as content goes.

But I find myself being conflicted by just how far some here are taking these threads... this is not VEF, where anything goes.

I try to give a little more slack than normal, as I hope that all of you can police yourselves, but it's becoming evident that's a fallacy.

Deciding what's racist and what's political is not necessarily black and white; it is discretionary, and that's where we, as a staff, get into hot water. We're not all that different from police, where a few bad apples spoil the whole bunch, as absolute power corrupts absolutely.

I hate being proactive in cases like this, as the offended party will undoubtedly jump on my case for scratching where there is no itch. But to wait until things get out of control invites flaming of members, as well as criticism of mods for not acting quickly enough.

So I guess this is gong to have to serve as notice that I'm going, in light of current events, to be more proactive, and shut some discussions down before they really begin. It is not what I want; but it is what our environment, internal and external, dictates.
