Trump returning to Twitter would be Trump admitting Truth Social is an abject failure. His ego would never permit that even though the whole world knows it's a bloody farce. A possible solution for both is the merger of Twitter and Truth Social. Twitter would suffer yet another credibility blow in that case and Musk and Trump on the same board would be unpleasant for everyone working on it or participating in it.
Besides you know damned well that Trump is telling everyone who'll listen "Twitter died the minute I was kicked off" And even though that's not true it's the reality he'll create that those blindly following him as Messiah will choose to live in. To perpetuate the myth he can't go back unless he's in the position of saviour and conquering hero. Does anyone think Musk's ego would tolerate that? The thing I'm curious about now is whether the courage those at Twitter have found to tell Musk to f*** off and leave his company will spread to his other companies as well. If everyone starts to openly question his leadership then his time as Mega-CEO are well and truly numbered. In the meantime all his companies are losing money like you wouldn't believe. Tesla alone is down 60%, That's collapse territory. To quote my old mentor, "schadenfreude is the gift that keeps on giving."

There is a theory out there that Musk only bought Twitter to destroy it.
I'm not buying it, on the other hand if he did want to destroy it, would he be making different decisions than the one he is currently making? The problem with that theory of course is that no one will just burn 44 billion USD to the ground over a grudge. On the other hand, there is the suggestion that Musk has some very rich backers that will help cushion the financial blow a bit. |

Face saving bullshit that doesn't hold up to the one simple important question.
Why? He's not Donald Trump. There's no axe to grind with the platform. Besides. If Musk wanted to destroy Twitter it would have been cheaper and easier to say "Twitter has been driven into the floor by morons who want to control what you think", then spend £1bn setting up a rival platform with all the whistles and bells that people want, the freedoms they demand, an open moderation panel with a Twitter elected governance, inline advertising to raise money and pay for it all and proper working adult filters and sections for those demanding better protection for minors (not an unreasonable demand). It's the internet. The real estate costs fuck all. With a bit of money for fast international servers and a bit more for proper tech staff which he could have poached from Twitter anyway it could have been up and running in a month. Let's face it. Twitter is hardly a sophisticated platform. In multimedia terms it mostly operates on everyone else' plugins. Musk is making the decisions he is making at Twitter because 1 He was forced into making good on buying it and has no idea what he's doing and 2 He's acting out of panic in the only way he knows. Shouting and bullying and yelling "I'm in charge!" The notion that someone would burn $44bn and tank the rest of his companies to close a website that was dying a slow death anyway is so ludicrous it doesn't bear serious conversation. The fact that such a suggestion is seriously being considered is reason enough for every one of his investors to get out while they can. Enough have been that Tesla has lost 60% of its stock value since this farce started. So where are the "rich backers who will cushion the financial blow a bit"? Nowhere. That's where. If I had any money in Musk's ventures I'd have dumped the stock weeks ago. And if anyone does actually believe this "Musk did it to destroy Twitter" notion then I have a lovely bridge for sale and a fantastic blue goldfish in a toilet bowl you really should take a close look at.

There's no long con that exists that would entail sinking a national debt amount of money into a company you intend to tank. The only reason to tank a company is to short the stock and since he's now the sole shareholder shorting the stock would be bankrupting the company and himself. Besides, if he wanted to dump the company why would he reinstate Trump? He just did that. Whether Trump abandons his own platform to "come back" or Trump declines it's still a move that shows a desperate need for the company to survive.
Face it. None of this "Musk wants to end Twitter" conspiracy nonsense stands up. And people are already migrating away from Twitter to Mastedon. If that group of platforms sorts itself out then Twitter is done and dusted barring a miracle no one can see happening. even if it does survive, the damage he's already done to internal and external morale and confidence in the product is immeasurable.

Without delving into politics too much, I think bringing back the "Orange One" is a lateral move at best, because he's so polarizing. The people who've permanently departed Twatter initially because of its "Musk-y" stench will stay gone and more will leave... because orange. However, many will come back - either in support, or to get a front row seat to the shitshow.
I frankly don't give a shit about Twatter (or any social media). If Electric Jesus tanks it, that's probably not a bad thing. Too many people live an unhealthy amount of their lives on the platform, rather than living their lives. In a weird way, it's unfortunate that the developed nations don't have real problems - as in imminent danger. If we had to gather our own food and there was a real possibility of being eaten by a tiger, we probably wouldn't be bitching on Twatter that the barista got our order wrong. <-- I really wanted to say something else here (but no politics) .

What irks me about the poll was that it was unannounced, and that it had no ending time. That leads me to believe that Kane... err... Musk was going to end the poll when he saw Trump over 50%, and that offering to reinstate his account was more of an Olive Branch than "Vox Populi, Vox Dei".
And I think Kane... err... Musk knew full well that Trump wasn't coming back... ergo, an ass-kissing attempt. |

Guys, I noticed someone already started talking about politics, and I already deleted a couple of posts.
This isn't about the USA elections, folks. It's about Trump being reinstated into Twitter and Elon Musk screwing things up. Please keep it that way, even though I DO understand the frustration of some folks. Thank you.

The Twitter poll was self-selecting and therefore meaningless. Like most of Elon's actions, it was a publicity stunt.
