This one is embarrassing to admit, but because of my struggles with mental health, my hygiene often takes a back seat. Today I showered for the first time in about a week and washed my hair for the first time in about two weeks. Needless to say, I feel clean and refreshed. Most everyone takes these actions for granite, but when you struggle to motivate yourself to take care of even the most basic necessities, you learn to appreciate them all the more. I know I've opened myself up to serious ridicule by admitting this, but I did so in the hopes that any other members who may be struggling with the same issues know they are not alone.

That is quite an accomplishment my friend Lando and I understand exactly where you're coming from. Sometimes the symptoms of mental illness are so high that to even get out of bed is an accomplishment let alone hygiene. I myself feel accomplished that I was able to do my own hygiene on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday even though my symptoms were trying to drag me down.

Returning to the subject of accomplishments while staying on the subject of mental health my therapist continues to give me amazing feedback and shared this last week that I might soon be ready to process trauma.

I started this thread with laundry and I haven't had anything good to post here in a while, so I'm going back to laundry.
Wife and I helped neighbors and friends with storm damage all last weekend and skipped laundry. I did two loads before I left for work yesterday morning. She finished two more loads while I was at work. We've done three more this morning. Between the storm damage and the long hours we work, a lot of stuff spoiled in the fridge. The dishwasher has just finished the second load today. Also on the dishwasher's task list were the dishes from four batches of "the recipe" that I distributed to friends and neighbors. (Not the one from the TV show The Waltons, in case you were wondering.)* I finished about an hour of lawn work, about all one can do this time of year. Three weeks from now I can begin larger sod repair projects; but for today I've done all that can be done. Helped a neighbor down the street fix a downspout (also storm damage). Poor guy's tool skills are limited to "screwdriver." I'm a small time contractor as a side hustle to my real job (the real job that has insurance!) and he could not believe how easy it was for me when he was really struggling. No charge for family and neighbors in case you were wondering. Dark now, and I am settling in with dark beer and the latest episodes of Picard. :dammit, the other message board has a beer clinking emoji: *Actually, I have a friend who makes that recipe. Sometimes we swap. |

I've been feeling 'off' this last week though it wouldn't surprise me if I'm just exhausted and worn out from a very busy and stressful (good and bad stress) February.
So, my accomplishment has been working to put the pieces of my life back together again and I did so by doing laundry yesterday and food shopping today.

^Thank you Lando my friend; I hope your week has been going on and I'm doing much better now.
My accomplishment this week is that my wonderful therapist and I have started working on processing trauma and even though it's been a difficult week the progress I've made has stayed and I've already bounced back, currently making beef stew and looking forward to another productive week where I'll shave my beard and get a haircut.

I've accomplished quite a bit this week as part of my goals I'm four for four days completed hygiene and I even shaved my beard and got a haircut so hopefully I look human again.
I also cleaned, kept/made appointments and did my weekly food shop and tomorrow it'll be quite an accomplishment if I go for a walk ...it's supposed to be nice and I'm done with Winter and ready for Spring!
