Aerosmith promises first album since 2004
Aerosmith promises first album since 2004 will hit store shelves in three months, announces tour (Videos)
Daniel S Levine 3/29/2012 Aerosmith fans have had to wait a long time since 2004’s Honkin’ On Bobo, the band’s last studio album, was released. The group hasn’t even released an album of original material since 2001’s Just Push Play. However, the members of the band held a press conference to announce that their 15th studio album is being completed and should be released this summer. They also announced a summer tour with Cheap Trick. The band, which includes American Idol judge Steven Tyler on vocals, guitarists Joe Perry and Brad Whitford, bassist Tom Hamilton and drummer Joey Kramer, first announced the tour on their website on Monday. They are calling it the Global Warming tour, starting in Minneapolis on June 16. The tour will end in Tacoma, WA on Aug. 8. "After touring Japan and South America last year we're psyched about bringing it all back for the hometown fans. We're going to break out the classics, the hits and maybe even some of the new ones we've been banging out in the studio. Can't wait to get to Minneapolis!” Hamilton said in the statement. According to Rolling Stone, the “Walk This Way” group, without Whitford, held a press conference at the Grove mall in Los Angeles Wednesday, with late-night host Jimmy Kimmel on hand to introduce them. Tyler told the crowd that "We've been underground for four months, doing what we do best," promising that a new album would be out in three months. Although they did not reveal the title, they did say that some of the songs will be called “Beautiful,” “Out Go The Lights” and “Legendary Child.” The album promises to be a return to the group’s hit-making 1970s period, as producer Jack Douglas worked with the band. Douglas produced four of their classic early albums, including Toys in the Attic and Rocks. They chose Douglas to bring "a little bit of 1975 back,” notes Reuters. The album has been delayed thanks to health problems and constant internal arguments. "I think what you guys should be worrying about is the fact that we're still together after forty years and what you're about to hear, which is a new record. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised,” Tyler said.

Patryn -- thanks for the Live Aid memory. Such a bizarre ferkin' day, and so damn HOT. Judas Priest didn't do it for me -- I remember they played pretty early, right after the first CSN set, and the sound was all crapped out (and it was freakin' HOT) ... but it was hit or miss all day of course. Same thing with the stuff being piped in from London -- some was AWESOME, and some, not. Couple live things that DID work in Philly ...
Young Neil's entire set, and then his stint with CSN when they came back out in the evening again (big reunion thing, though 4-part harmonies don't sound too good in a giant outdoor stadium)(at least it didn't by the time it reached the far reaches where we were camped). He kicked major ass on "Powderfinger", but the only vid I could find has quiet sound, so turn it up. Way up. The Led Zep reunion. Big hair notwithstanding. Sure, it would have been nice if Bonzo had come back down from Hebben for one last gig ... no way Phil Collins could ever hold his sticks (and he sucked during this performance, but he was a bit jet-lagged, hehe) ... but when you grow up with LZ as your favorite band, and then they break up before you get old enough to ever see them live, and you give up all hope of it ever happening ... you take what you can get. The entire Black Sabbath set -- Black Sabbath with Ozzy, that is, the reunion version. Remember when Ozzy was a fat coke-snortin' fiend? Clapton doing Layla, with -- oh yeah -- the ubiquitous Phil Collins on one of the 2 kits. Quote:
"Versatile" -- that's one word for them. Their kind of, uhhhh, eclectivity is unparalleled, I'll give you that. They make "out there" seem decidedly tame. Over the years they've had some awesome stuff, though. But too much of the other kind for me, Boognish knows. These 2 grew up about 20 minutes away from where I did, and were 4 years behind me, but in the next school district over. I never heard of them until the late 80s or early 90s, and pretty much almost soiled myself when I saw where they were from! Still need 8 votes. Not sure if we're ever gonna get there Urge. RF p.s. happy belated-by-an-hour birthday to a very talented musician who is 45 years young today, Mr. John Popper. I'd post a Blues Traveler vid, but this is insanely long enough... and they were/are one of the best jam bands around, so the vid would have to be like 4 hours long.
