I saw episode 2 ( Shadow Realms) and it was creepy af but the episode had a dose of MacFarlane humor in spots to lighten the mood.

I skipped "The Orville" at first, because MacFarlane's non-toon stuff up to that point wasn't really my cup of tea, later I decided to give it a try and was very positively surprised. It really captures the spirit of 90's Star Trek shows at their best and the latest season has awesome production values. It looks great. I also noticed "Jon Favreux" as a consultant in the credits.
In general a lot of shows are knocking the ball out of the park this year when
it comes to looks/production value. Star Trek Strange New Worlds too.
Last episode looked like watching "Star Trek VI" I thought.

I've been following STSNW and enjoying it, but I wasn't impressed with Ep 8 ("The Elysian Kingdom").

The whole set-up seemed a little forced.

It wasn't the best ep of the season for sure. I think _every_ ST show _ever_ has an encounter with that type of situation.

You also notice how that security officer looks like she's a clone of "Drummer" from
The Expanse?
