Currently watching fifth season of The Expanse. Going to be interesting to see what they do with the sixth and final season, given there are another four books after Nemeisis Games.

Not read the books, but either the TV series won't reach the same conclusion, or there's going to be a lot of squashing material into one season... We shall see!

Vigil
This may be one for Brits only but this murder mystery / political thriller from the creators of Line Of Duty is currently holding its own in the tension / watchability stakes. Apart from a grotesquerie where a 2IC uses the word "appraise" instead of "apprise" it is wholly coherent. And yes, the correct use of English matters!

^^^^^ I really enjoy British programming, one of my favourites still from sometime back is the series Spooks with Sophia Myles who played Beth Bailey who I've since met and I continue to adore her to this day. My all-time favourite which continues to this day is the British American co-production Outlander who my girl Laura Donnelly was on, she now has the lead in the HBO TV series The Nevers. Look for the second half of season 1 of that show coming in May... that is a tentative date that has not been made public but it's still a fluid situation so things could change, production is well underway and some episodes are already in post

La Brea
A massive sinkhole opens up in the middle of Los Angeles, separating a family between two worlds. The mother and son fall into an unexplainable primeval land alongside a group of strangers trying to figure out where they are, and how to get back home. Left above is a daughter, who barely manages to survive the disaster, and the father, whose troubled past and hallucinations make him an unlikely choice to help solve the mystery -- and reunite the family. But when he realizes his visions might just be the key to finding their loved ones, time will be the only thing that stands in their way.

Although it's centered in Los Angeles it is filmed in Australia and it has a decent CGI component.

On the episode I just finished watching it included a wonderful woman who is currently in between homes, she has three girls and a boy and she thought that she was doing a good deed for somebody else by setting up a home complete with all furnishings and amenities because she's just one of those wonderful people who loves to help others, but the joke was on her everything she helped do today was for her and her family who now have a place to call home.

Watching this program will leave you warm and fuzzy and if it doesn't you really need to do a gut check.

Yellowstone

Oscar and Emmy winner Kevin Costner is the marquee attraction of the ensemble cast in this drama series, starring as the patriarch of a powerful, complicated family of ranchers. A sixth-generation homesteader and devoted father, John Dutton controls the largest contiguous ranch in the United States. He operates in a corrupt world where politicians are compromised by influential oil and lumber corporations and land grabs make developers billions. Amid shifting alliances, unsolved murders, open wounds, and hard-earned respect, Dutton's property is in constant conflict with those it borders -- an expanding town, an Indian reservation, and America's first national park.

Season 4 is currently filming and some episodes are already "in the can". Interestingly enough even though the show is made by Paramount (Disney+), it's streaming on Peacock in the United States, they have the exclusive rights for the first three seasons. It's on Prime in Canada.

Season 4 premieres November 7th and season 4 will actually be on Paramount. They binged the first three seasons last weekend for those of you that might have noticed and caught up.

Depending on who you listen to It's currently the number one cable program on premium channels and it really is worth a look as the stories keep growing and more characters get added.

As with our film that HBO just bought the rights to and is revamping as a limited-run mini-series this show started out originally as a movie concept but they too wanted greater character development and the only way to do that is through a series... or tedious sequels/prequels

Billions, season 5

I avidly followed the previous seasons, but for some reason I only recently discovered that it is back with a new season.

^^^^^ it's a great show and right in my wheelhouse, the cutthroat world of finance. I love Maggie Siff who plays Wendy Rhoades. She also had long runs on Sons of Anarchy and Mad Men

Btw the last five episodes of season 5 that were suspended due to the pandemic started airing on September 5th and season 6 is in production hell.

For anyone that might be watching the hit Canadian television show Transplant in their area and can't find it on the fall schedule for Season 2, as I told a member who private messaged me last night NBC has renewed it but due to the pandemic filming has delayed things and it won't be airing in Canada until late fall on CTV and NBC will likely put it in their programming schedule for summer of 2022 as a summer replacement.

Again according to who you talk to it is currently the number one original series in Canada.

The series is created and written by Howard Overman, and directed by Gilles Coulier and Richard Clark. The series is a loose adaptation of The War of the Worlds, an 1898 novel by H. G. Wells about Earth coming to terms in the wake of a sudden Martian invasion. It is the third television adaptation of the novel. It stars Gabriel Byrne and Daisy Edgar-Jones along with an ensemble supporting cast including Elizabeth McGovern.

The first season consists of eight episodes, and first premiered in France in October 2019. An eight-episode second season premiered in France in May 2021. War of the Worlds was renewed for a third season in July 2021, which is set to air in 2022. It can be seen on Fox in the USA, CBC in Canada, and Disney+ in the UK
